Father Joe
"Father Joe" stars Kiefer Sutherland, Al Pacino, and teen actress Ever Anderson (daughter of Milla Jovovich and filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson). Bucking Fastard
"Bucking Fastard" stars real-life sisters Kate Mara and Rooney Mara as twin sisters loosely based on Freda and Greta Chaplin, who spoke and moved in unison. Directed by Werner Herzog, the film follows Jean and Joan Holbrooke, two sisters so close to each other that they speak in unison, love the same man, and share the same dreams. Wild Horse Nine

Possible Love
After eight years, director Lee Chang-dong returns to the Venice Film Festival with his Korean drama &ldquo;Possible Love.&rdquo; The film follows two married couples: a laid-off worker and his wife, and a documentary filmmaker and her husband, whose lives intersect while filming a documentary. Their encounter forces them to confront their different lives and hidden desires. The film premiered on 6 September 2026.
Ink

The new album marks another chapter in Miley&rsquo;s career, with a fresh sound, a new professional identity, and a deeply personal approach to love and music. What Miley Said About the Album? Miley shared on her Instagram account emotional words describing her journey behind making the album, saying, "Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That's what the title means to me." Miley closed her statement by saying, "Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album."  It's a Love Story In July, Cyrus confirmed the album will have love songs, but that they will be multifaceted. She also discussed pulling inspiration from her personal life, likely her years-long love story with her fianc&eacute;, Maxx Morando. She explained to Daryl Hannah for Wonderland, "This album is a love story, but love stories are never one-dimensional. They're always layered. There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it's a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras. That's something I hadn't really experienced before. A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I've found from myself. That's probably been the biggest evolution. Once your relationship with yourself changes, every relationship around you changes too. I think this record celebrates both of those equally."
How Many Songs Are on the Album? According to Wonderland, Miley revealed the album will contain 10 songs, as she said in the interview: "This one was different. It was organic and really unforced. Something that was super helpful this time was I started with the tracklist and never veered from it. I knew it would be 10 songs. I roughly knew the sound and the concept. His dream began when he was a child. David Berty always imagined himself playing characters he loved, imitating actors and taking part in theatrical activities at his church and school. Even while studying architecture and later working as a full-time architect, he never gave up on his dream of becoming an actor.
The rising actor needed just one opportunity to prove his talent, and that opportunity came with his first drama series, "Beng Kolli," directed by Nadine Khan. In the series, Berty plays Raheem, a complex character who required extensive preparation. From spending time in a hospital emergency room to learning more about the nursing profession, he went the extra mile to make the character as authentic as possible.

NileFM went behind the scenes of &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; with David Berty, who revealed how he prepared for Raheem, the challenges of bringing the character to life, his experience working with Nadine Khan, and what comes next for him.
You studied architecture but eventually found yourself more passionate about acting and voice acting. Tell us more about your journey.
My love for the arts and performance started long before my architectural studies. From a very young age, I found myself constantly role-playing and imagining things on my own. Because of the big age gap between my older sisters and me, that was how I spent most of my time. As I grew older, I was constantly taking part in theatrical activities at my church and at school as well.
There was always a part of me that felt at home when practising the arts, whether writing, singing, or acting. As I got older, I wanted to actually give that child inside me a chance to explore what I had always wanted to explore.
While studying architecture, I joined multiple acting troupes and started my own YouTube channel for voice acting and singing. After graduation, I made a promise to myself to keep doing the things I love and not let them go.
Throughout the years that followed, I had a breakthrough in voice acting. I then focused more on taking acting workshops to develop my skills further. All of that was, and still is, happening in parallel with my work as a full-time architect. And here we are now.

Was there a particular moment when you realised you wanted to become an actor?
It was always inside me, one way or another. But it was when I started taking acting workshops that I found myself feeling more passionate, more alive and more &ldquo;me&rdquo; than ever. This validated my inner feeling that I wanted to explore more in the artistic direction.
Raheem&rsquo;s character in &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; has several psychological layers. How did you approach portraying the different sides of his personality and conveying them to the audience?
Raheem was a very interesting character from day one. His day-to-day struggles, his lost dreams, and his dedication to work resonated with me a lot.
This is where I connected with the character, when I found that common ground. &ldquo;Do I know how it feels to face life&rsquo;s troubles? Do I know how it feels to let go of a dream?&rdquo; That&rsquo;s how I approached him, and it helped me make him more real. The audience connected with him, thank God.
Adding to that were the layers of his social background and upbringing, which echoed in the details and made him a fuller human being.

When you first read the script, what message did you want the audience to take away from Raheem&rsquo;s story?
I don&rsquo;t think that was how I approached working on Raheem. I just wanted to be as honest and authentic as I could be. To me, Raheem was someone who was always trying and who kept going, and that was very close to my heart.
What was the most challenging scene you filmed for the series?
There were multiple challenging scenes, but what comes to mind is when Raheem discovers Dr Asfour&rsquo;s body.
It was challenging to approach the scene given the state Raheem was in, exhausted from his two jobs and then waking up to this mess.
I also wanted to handle it in the most realistic way possible: him being an experienced nurse, realising what had happened, trying to control his reaction, thinking about the right thing to do and then going to get help.
There was also the scene in Dr Doua&rsquo;s car, when he speaks about his lost dreams and opens his heart to her. It was an important scene because this is where we actually get to know who Raheem is. For me, I love this scene.
&ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; is your first drama series. What was the most memorable reaction you received to your performance?
Multiple reactions resonated with me. Nour Mahmoud&rsquo;s post on Facebook was amazing, and it sparked a conversation about Raheem. I received multiple messages from actors and directors I know that made me really happy and made me feel that my work on Raheem had paid off, thank God.
How did you prepare for the role of Raheem?
I worked on it from multiple directions. First, I wanted to learn more about the nursing world, so I met with nurses and doctors.
I spent a day in the emergency room of one of the hospitals, observing the dynamics between the staff, patients and workers.
I watched multiple nursing videos on YouTube, where nurses talk about their jobs and what they face every day.
I worked on the appearance, the accent and the physicality of the character. And, of course, there was the internal work itself: analysing Raheem, the script and the other characters, along with their relationships and dynamics.

Were there any memorable moments from the set that you would like to share with us?
It was really fun working with the cast. The atmosphere Nadine Khan created helped a lot in building chemistry between us all, and that is reflected in the work itself.
I remember the scenes in which I was sleeping, and multiple times the crew thought I had actually fallen into a deep sleep.
There was also this scene with Diaa Abdel-Khaleq where we bonded over our work as voice actors, as he is one of my favourite childhood voices, having voiced Buzz Lightyear in &ldquo;Toy Story&rdquo;.
What was it like working with director Nadine Khan? Was there a particular piece of advice she gave you that you will never forget?
Nadine Khan is an amazing director and human being. From day one, and even since the audition, she was very supportive. She also gave me the chance to play around with Raheem and explore the character.
She created a very friendly and safe space for us to work in, and she knew what she wanted from each character in every scene, which helped a lot.
She advised me to take care with the fine line between creating a distinctive, believable character and turning it into a stereotypical caricature. I kept that in mind while working on Raheem, and it helped me a lot.

Is there a particular character or type of role you would like to take on in the future?
There is nothing specific I have in mind, but I love characters who are written as actual, layered human beings, with struggles, dreams, fears and needs. I fall in love with the human experience in all its shapes and forms.
What can you tell us about your upcoming projects?
Currently, I&rsquo;m working on multiple projects as a voice actor, and soon a new film will be in cinemas, in which I&rsquo;m voicing a very interesting character.
As for drama and cinema, nothing is clear yet, but I hope that &ldquo;Beng Kolli&rdquo; will be the beginning of many more interesting projects to come.

If you could go back to your first day as an actor, what advice would you give yourself?
It would be what I&rsquo;m telling myself right now: Keep going, keep learning, do what you love for the sake of loving it, and enjoy the ride.

Some people find stories they can connect with, while others feel compelled to bring those stories to life, shed light on them and preserve their memory through film.
That is what happened with 2D animation art director and filmmaker Noran Fikri, who was following the news from Gaza when she decided to create a film telling a story of childhood, survival and loss.
Her short animated film, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo;, follows Zain Orouq, a 14-year-old Palestinian swimming champion who faces war and man-made famine while becoming the sole caregiver for his younger brother. When aid drops into the sea, Zain is forced to swim, not for his passion, but for survival.

Running for just eight minutes, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; won in the Animation category at the 53rd Student Academy Awards, organised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The specific medal the film will receive will be announced on September 14. As a Student Academy Award-winning film, &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; is also eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

The film was also named Best International Film at the 2026 edition of the Animatex Festival, further highlighting the power of animation to tell deeply human stories and bring Palestinian experiences to international audiences.

In an exclusive interview with NileFM, 2D animation art director and filmmaker Noran Fikri takes us through her journey of finding a story worth telling, the process of bringing &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; to life, its recognition at the BAFTA Student Awards and Student Academy Awards, and what comes next for her career.
Tell Us More About Yourself, Noran. What Inspired You To Become A Director?
I am Noran Fikri Alezabi, a 2D animation art director and filmmaker. What inspired me to become a director was that I have always felt this longing to be part of something important, while also really loving to draw. Somehow, the overlap came through storytelling.
When I was very young, I often wondered whether a career in art could have as much impact on the world as careers in social work, law or politics. As I grew older, I realised that the impact of art does not always visibly fix the world or improve people's lives, but it lingers in people's minds and hearts, and its presence cannot be undermined.
&ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; was the first time I felt that I was using what I love to contribute to a larger cause. I was responsible for the original pitch, and it was my first time co-directing a film. It honestly taught me a lot.

How Did The Idea Of Telling Gaza&rsquo;s Story Through Animation Come To You?
I was awarded a scholarship by Netflix Animation to study at Gobelins Paris, one of the world's top animation schools. Only one month after I enrolled, in September, the war in Gaza began, and it was difficult to witness what was happening from away from home, in a part of the world where it seemed like no one was reacting to it at that time.
In late 2023, I made a firm decision that I wanted my graduation film pitch to focus on Gaza. The specific narrative came after learning about the tragic death of 13-year-old Zain Orouq in April 2024, who was killed by a malfunctioning aid parachute while seeking aid.
His story became the inspiration and our vehicle for capturing the profound loss of childhood and everyday human struggle in Gaza without needing an overly political lens to carry the weight of the story. This allowed me to depict this reality freely and without censorship.
After &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; Won The BAFTA Student Award, What Did You Want Audiences To Take Away From The Film?
We wanted audiences to sit with a sense of discomfort and uneasiness about the ongoing reality faced by Palestinian children to this day.
The film ends where it began, unresolved, with children still hungry and waiting, because war does not just take lives; it steals entire childhoods.
I hope &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; serves as a means of preserving memory, helping viewers reflect on the fact that children who survive deserve far more than basic survival. They deserve the fullness of a restored childhood, and the world has a responsibility to remember them and fight for them.

As The Person Behind The Original Pitch And The Lead Writer On This Film, Which Parts Of The Story Were Important For You To Depict During Production?
Our story is as much character-driven as it is event-driven, and it was vital to depict the raw, dystopian irony of humanitarian aid drops.
Something meant to sustain life has been twisted into something dangerous that children must risk everything to retrieve.
Above all, I wanted to ensure that the ending remained unresolved, leaving the audience with an honest depiction of the ongoing reality rather than an ending that gives the viewer any sense of release.
You Adapted The Story Of Zain Orouq. Why Did You Choose His Story Specifically?
Zain's tragic loss embodied the dystopian reality in which humanitarian aid becomes a source of fatality.
When we reached out to his uncle, Abdalrahim Orouq, for permission to use Zain's name as a tribute, we were deeply moved to learn that the real Zain actually loved swimming and had a younger brother named Hamoud.
Connecting our fictional premise to the real boy's life reaffirmed why his story needed to be told. He represents countless Palestinian children forced into parent-like roles too soon, bearing trauma with quiet composure while trying to protect their younger siblings.

How Did You Balance The Film&rsquo;s Difficult Realities With Its Themes Of Hope And Brotherly Love?
We balanced these themes through the dynamic between Zain and his little brother, Nour. They represent two sides of childhood: childhood preserved and childhood lost.
Nour represents the inner child who holds on to joy and tries to console those around him. Zain represents the child forced to grow up too quickly. He carries immense grief quietly, never venting his pain in front of Nour in order to protect his brother's spirit.
The love between them anchors the viewer in the middle of the brutal conditions and man-made famine around them.
How Did You Use Sound Effects To Strengthen The Film&rsquo;s Emotional Impact?
We were very grateful to have the talented J&eacute;r&eacute;my Ben Ammar with us for the sound design.
Sound design directly builds the emotional world of the film through two opposing auditory elements:
The Sound Of Water: Represents life, memory and peace before the conflict.
The Sound Of Drones: Represents the violent present.
In the opening sequence, the sound of water abruptly cuts into live-recorded drone audio, provided directly by our friend Lana Darabih from Gaza, immediately immersing the audience in the psychological reality of living under the psychological warfare Palestinians have to endure.
What Was The Biggest Challenge You Faced While Working On This Project?
The emotional and ethical weight of production was our greatest challenge.
Spending a year animating starving children while real children in Gaza were experiencing those exact horrors in real time created an unsettling daily atmosphere.
Ensuring authentic and respectful representation was equally heavy, requiring continuous reassurance from Palestinians, including Gazan writers, Palestinian voice actors and consultants, to verify that every line of dialogue, dialect nuance and narrative choice accurately and honourably reflected their lived experiences.
How Do You Feel About The Film&rsquo;s Reception Following Its BAFTA Student Award Win?
I believe there is a visible shift in how major institutions are responding to the world's engagement with the Palestinian cause. Audiences want to see art that responds to the reality we are witnessing.
Winning the BAFTA was deeply validating for me, of course, and getting to give a speech on a stage and tell the real story of Zain Orouq and honour his memory was a moment I will always carry with me.
I hope this kind of success in bringing our stories to international screens encourages other young creatives across our region to do the same.

The Film Has Been Recognised At Several International Festivals. How Has This Recognition Shaped Your Journey With The Film?
The recognition has cemented in me the idea that stories about ongoing, painful realities do not need to be intimidating or off-limits until another time.
It showed us that when recent real-world tragedy is approached through storytelling, international audiences respond deeply.
The film's festival journey, with more than 60 selections and screenings and the many awards we have received, transformed &ldquo;GAUZE&rdquo; from a graduation film into a statement about how film can act as an enduring form of remembrance and resistance to oppression on a global stage.

Looking Ahead, What Issue Would You Like To Explore In Your Next Project?
I am still currently reflecting on my experience with this film.
I am focusing on building my career in art direction while developing my own projects for future opportunities to direct. I want to continue creating work anchored in clear intention, with projects that fearlessly confront complex realities and use animation to tell meaningful stories.

Exclusive | Egyptian Director Noran Fikri On Her Award-Winning Animated Film “GAUZE”

For Egyptian DJ Redo, music has always been about discovering new sounds, connecting different influences, and taking listeners on a journey through different moods and emotions. His love of music began in 2004 after experiencing his first major music event, while growing up in Egypt introduced him to the richness of Arabic melodies.
Since launching his career as a DJ in 2006, Redo has performed at a variety of events alongside major occasions, continuously developing his style and expanding his musical horizons.
Now, DJ Redo joins NileFM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week at 10pm for a one-hour set featuring a mix of remixes, melodies and sounds from different genres. With melody at the heart of his musical identity, Redo aims to take listeners through different vibes and emotions, creating a set where every track adds to the journey.
NileFM dives deeper into DJ Redo&rsquo;s journey, his approach to discovering and blending music, the story behind his NileFM set and what&rsquo;s next for his career.
Let&rsquo;s start from the beginning. Tell us about your journey as a DJ and how your Egyptian background shaped your musical identity.
I started DJing in 2006, playing at local weddings. By 2010, I was also playing at international weddings, and in 2011 I moved into clubs, bars, beach parties, pool parties and larger events.
My love of music started even earlier, after experiencing my first major music event in 2004. Music has always been a huge source of positive energy for me, and growing up in Egypt also gave me a strong appreciation for beautiful Arabic melodies. I also learned a lot from working with DJs from Germany, which gave me different musical perspectives and experiences.

Was there a particular moment when you realised that DJing was more than just a passion and that you wanted to pursue it seriously?
When I started experimenting with remixes and changing melodies, I realised how much I enjoyed creating my own musical ideas. That was when I felt I had a natural talent for it and knew that DJing and music were going to be my career.
You&rsquo;re known for exploring different genres and creating a distinctive, genre-fluid sound. How would you describe your musical identity today?
I play different genres, but melody is always at the heart of what I do. I love blending sounds in a way that feels natural and beautiful. For me, every DJ set is a journey where I take the audience through different moods, vibes and emotions.
When you&rsquo;re discovering new music, what makes you think, &ldquo;This is a track I want to work with&rdquo;?
It starts with the melody, then the vocal and the energy of the track. When those three elements connect, I immediately start imagining how the track could fit into one of my sets.
Your sets can bring together very different sounds and genres. How do you decide which tracks can work together while still keeping your own signature style?
I look for tracks with melodies that can catch the audience&rsquo;s ear and connect emotionally. With a good musical ear, you can feel which tracks naturally fit together and create a strong groove, even across different genres.
You&rsquo;ve had the opportunity to play in different places and for very different audiences. How do you prepare when you&rsquo;re performing for a new crowd or in a different country?
I like to understand the venue and the audience first. But I also use my warm-up to read the crowd and discover what they respond to. Their reactions help me understand their taste and guide the musical direction of the set.
You&rsquo;re now joining NileFM as DJ of the Week. What did you want to bring to the audience through this particular set, and can listeners expect any surprises?
I wanted to bring beautiful melodies and a strong groove that pulls you into the set and makes you want to keep listening. There are also a few surprises in the mix, which I hope you&rsquo;ll enjoy discovering.

Take us through the process of creating your NileFM set. From the first track you selected to the final version, how did the set evolve?
I started with &ldquo;Listen Woman&rdquo; by DvirNuns, a track supported by Adam Ten. I&rsquo;m a big fan of Adam Ten, especially his approach to melody. From that track, I chose another one in the same direction and started building the set naturally from there.
Was there a particular track or transition in the set that was especially challenging or exciting to put together?
Around 90% of the transitions were really enjoyable and came together naturally because the melodies worked so well together. I didn&rsquo;t have to overthink them; the right tracks made the flow feel natural.

After years of developing your sound, what do you think has changed most between the DJ you were when you started and the DJ you are today?
Everything has evolved since 2006: my music selection, mixing, performance, stage presence and ability to read the crowd. With more experience, my choices and the way I build a musical journey have become stronger and more refined.
What&rsquo;s next for DJ Redo? Are there any new projects, collaborations, performances or musical directions you&rsquo;re particularly excited to explore?
I&rsquo;m focusing more on music production and remixes and taking that side of my career to the next level. Hopefully, you&rsquo;ll be hearing many new original tracks and remixes on my own channel under the name DJ Redoo.

Exclusive | DJ Redo Takes NileFM Listeners On A Journey Across Different Genres

Some TV series may come to an end, but certain characters remain with audiences long after the final episode. That was the case with actress Reem Elmasry, whose portrayal of Nahed in "Underage" left a lasting impression. The series explores challenges facing Generation Z, including one of its most sensitive issues: forced marriage at a young age.
Nahed is a teenage girl whose parents marry her off to a wealthy man she has never met, believing financial security will guarantee her happiness. Instead, after moving to Cairo, she finds herself trapped in an abusive marriage while trying to hide a secret life from those around her.
Throughout her career, Reem has appeared in several notable productions, including "Valentino" alongside Adel Emam, "Abu Al-Aroussa 2," "Sayd El Akarib," and the comedy film "Al Safa Thanaweya Banat."
NileFM spoke with Reem Elmasry about preparing for one of her most emotionally demanding roles, the challenges of bringing Nahed to life, and the audience response that touched her the most.
What made you fall in love with acting and decide to pursue it as a career?
I've loved acting since I was very young. I used to perform in theatre productions at cultural centres and arts institutions, so that passion was planted in me from childhood. My mother played a huge role in that because she loved theatre, and I grew up sharing the same passion for acting.

You started your career in theatre. What's the most important lesson you learned from that experience?
Theatre has taught me so much, both artistically and personally, and I'm still learning every day. I think one of the greatest lessons theatre gives any actor is how to overcome stage fright and truly connect with a live audience. That's something incredibly valuable for every performer.
What do you consider the turning point in your acting career?
Honestly, every project I work on changes me in some way or helps me take another step forward. But "Underage" was definitely a life-changing experience. It made a huge difference, both in how audiences saw me and in how I understood and appreciated acting. Thankfully, the series was very well received.

You've worked in theatre, film and television. Which medium best represents you as an actress?
Every medium has its own unique joy. Whether it's theatre, cinema or television, as long as I'm acting, I'm expressing who I am as both an actress and a person. Even if I'm acting in front of the mirror in my room, I'm still doing what I love.
Nahed in Underage is a very layered character. How did you prepare for the role?
It all started with many discussions with director Yahya Ismail and the series' writers, Mina Bebawi and Mohamed Elsoury. I kept asking about Nahed's background, motivations, circumstances and what her life was like before the events of the series. Together, we established clear boundaries for her personality and explored every aspect of her life so I could help audiences understand that although she is still very young, she is carrying burdens that belong to someone much older.
Did you consult any specialists or references while preparing for the role?
No. I relied on the vision of the director, the writers and my own personal interpretation of the character.
How did you portray the contrast between Nahed's personality at home and at school?
First of all, it was God's blessing, along with a great deal of preparation and discussion. I've seen real-life examples of young girls carrying responsibilities far beyond their age, regardless of their circumstances. I also wanted Nahed to behave differently with each character in the series because she is someone constantly trying to fit in and adapt to the world around her. That can sometimes make her appear as if she is changing her personality or being misunderstood.

Which scene was the most difficult for you to film, and why?
Probably the scene where Nody's husband beats Nahed and throws her out of the house. It was emotionally very difficult.
What was it like working with the "Underage" cast and crew?
It was honestly one of the happiest and most enjoyable experiences I've ever had. The atmosphere was filled with love, support and so many wonderful memories.
Did playing Nahed stay with you after filming ended?
Absolutely. She affected me deeply. I loved her, sympathised with everything she went through and felt that she became a part of me.
Among the girls in the series, which character is closest to you in real life, and why?
Honestly, I love them all. They're all close to my heart. They are some of the sweetest and most talented girls I've ever met, and I wish them nothing but the very best.

What audience reaction touched you the most after Underage aired?
I'm grateful for every reaction and every message I received. But what moved me the most was hearing from parents who said the series made them genuinely worry about their children and rethink how they understand and communicate with them. Knowing that the series was able to make even a small difference in the way parents see and treat their children made me incredibly happy.

Exclusive | Reem Elmasry Talks About Bringing Nahed To Life In “Underage”

Acting is about more than stepping into different characters. It is about discovering new places, embracing different cultures and connecting with people through storytelling. For Austrian actress Valerie Pachner, that journey began in a small village in Austria and eventually led her to some of the world's biggest film productions.
Known for her emotionally powerful performances in A Hidden Life, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore and the Austrian drama Four Minus Three, Pachner now stars in Stories alongside British-Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry and Egyptian actress Nelly Karim. The romantic drama follows two people from different worlds whose lives become intertwined through handwritten letters, exploring how love can transcend borders. The film also has a personal connection for Pachner, who says she fell in love with Egypt long before joining the project.

In an exclusive interview with NileFM, Pachner spoke about the inspiration behind her acting career, what drew her to Stories, memorable moments from filming in Egypt and the advice that continues to guide her career.
You've built a career across European and international cinema. What first inspired you to become an actress?
I grew up in a small village in the countryside of Austria and, honestly, initially my desire to pursue acting merely came from wanting to escape the narrowness of my village, wanting to meet new people, experience new things and see a different world. Acting offered that to me through workshops in bigger cities, but also through the experience of acting itself. It was a very honest, truthful way to meet people, very deep and personal. At 16, I found that more interesting and exciting than casually hanging out or partying.

What was it about the script for Stories that made you want to be part of the film?
I found the way these two characters fall in love deeply romantic. Through letters! There is something so intimate about sending and receiving a letter, even if it comes from a completely different world. I love how it is slow-paced yet quite intense. I was also very intrigued by the fact that these two overcome the obstacles of coming from two different worlds and how love can cross national borders with ease and certainty. Love doesn't care about borders.
What drew you to your character, and what did you connect with most?
I loved her openness and her adventurous spirit. That was something I could certainly connect with. As an adolescent, after school, I went to Honduras for a year. The occasional acting workshops in the nearest bigger city were not enough. I wanted to go far away, explore the world, travel and meet new cultures. During that time, I also travelled to Egypt and completely fell in love with the culture. This is where Liz and I share a passion: travelling and fully immersing yourself in a new world, whether it is a new country or a new character for a project.

Can you share a memorable behind-the-scenes moment from Stories that audiences might not know about?
When we shot the scene at Vienna's Strudlhofstiege, a famous landmark in the city, Liz and Ahmed (Amir El-Masry) had their picture taken by an older couple passing by. That couple are the real Elisabeth and Ahmed, Abu's parents. That was such a special moment to shoot for all of us.
Another memorable moment came during the wedding scene. My Austrian colleagues and I really did not know what was going to happen. Director Abu Bakr Shawky told our Egyptian colleagues what to do and explained the different wedding rituals, while we were completely clueless, so our surprise, confusion and delight were very real.
What was the biggest challenge in bringing your character to life?
Maybe her unbroken optimism. I find myself more sceptical and realistic, so I struggled a bit at first with how she could be so wildly positive. But over time, this positivity kind of spread into my own being, and that was a very lovely experience.

Your performances often convey so much through silence and subtle expression. How do you approach that as an actor?
I think, for me, dialogue is really the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more going on for a character, a human being, and I start to build that very thoroughly through preparation. I think about how that person holds herself, how she feels in her body, how she moves through a room and what she thinks about first when she wakes up. This allows me to fully immerse myself in the world that is offered on set, and silent moments are not scary but become an even greater place of safety for me, where I can allow the character to just breathe.
You've worked in Austrian, German, British and Hollywood productions. How do those experiences differ, and what has each taught you?
In general, acting is acting and, at its core, there are always very similar experiences on set. The biggest difference is probably on the financial side: how much time there is to shoot and whether it is more like a sprint for arthouse films or a marathon for big studio productions.
You've received several major awards during your career. Have they influenced the roles you choose, or simply reinforced the stories you want to tell?
I never work for awards or festival success. When I am on a project, what matters most to me is the story, what we want to tell, not how we tell it. Even less important is whether people will love it, whether it will go to a festival or whether I will receive an award for it. There is nothing wrong with thinking like that, but I personally don't enjoy approaching my work from that perspective. It is more important to me that I find what is being told important.

What can audiences expect from your upcoming projects?
Currently, I have two films in cinemas: Stories and the Austrian film Four Minus Three, a very emotional story about a woman, and a clown, who loses her family in a car accident. My latest film, I Is Another, with Claes Bang, will have its premiere in the Piazza Grande section at the Locarno Film Festival in August, which I am very excited about.

I would absolutely love to work in Egypt again! I loved being there so much; the people were so lovely. I would return in no time!
Looking back on your career, what's the best advice you've ever received?
Do what you feel is right. If that means saying no to a project because you don't feel it or because you need a break, even if it is a great opportunity, then that is right, and you can trust that feeling.

The 15-track album was released through Silver Age and marks Hardy&rsquo;s first full-length project as a lead hip-hop artist.

&ldquo;We wanted to do something safe and appropriate to our culture,&rdquo; Ola said.
She also pointed out that children today are growing up surrounded by smartphones and technology, meaning children's content needs to reflect the world they already live in.
To ensure Satoota's content is age-appropriate and supports children's development, Ola said the team consulted educators and early childhood development specialists.
Keeping Arabic Close To Children
For Ola, creating Arabic-language content is also about helping children maintain a connection with their language and identity.
&ldquo;It's beautiful to be bilingual, but it's also important to know your language and your identity,&rdquo; she explained.
Ola said that while her children may speak English at school, she believes it is equally important for them to know Arabic and feel proud of their Egyptian identity.
Building The Satoota Universe
Ola revealed that the team puts considerable thought into developing Satoota's characters and wider universe.
The platform features characters inspired by different creatures, alongside music and storytelling designed to make learning entertaining for young children.
The aim, she explained, is to create a world that children enjoy while continuing to offer meaningful and educational content.
How Parents Can Choose Children's Content
Ola also discussed the responsibility parents have when deciding what their children watch.
She explained that children are increasingly exposed to screens, making it important for parents to pay attention not only to how much content they consume, but also to what they are watching.
According to Ola, Satoota uses 2D animation and pastel colours while avoiding overly fast animation and excessively vivid visuals. She said these choices are intended to create content that is comfortable and appropriate for young viewers.
She also stressed that today's children are exposed to technology from an early age.
&ldquo;Kids now are too smart and more exposed,&rdquo; Ola said, pointing out that even young children can encounter AI and the internet and access information much more easily than previous generations.
For her, this makes the responsibility of children's content creators even greater, as they need to create content that entertains children while also supporting their development.
Finding The Right Balance With Screen Time
Screen time was another important part of the conversation.
Ola discussed recommendations around limiting children's screen exposure, particularly for younger children, while emphasising that parents should also consider what their children are watching when they do use screens.
Her focus, she explained, is not simply on reducing screen time, but also on ensuring that the content children consume is safe and beneficial.
From YouTube To Real-Life Experiences
Satoota TV has also built a growing online audience, with Ola highlighting the platform's strong performance on YouTube and more than 300,000 subscribers.
&ldquo;We're very lucky. People love our product,&rdquo; she said.
However, Ola explained that Satoota is not limited to digital content. The team also organises events where children can meet and interact with the characters in real life, allowing the Satoota universe to extend beyond the screen.
The Song That Connected With Children
One of Satoota's standout moments came with its Arabic alphabet song, which became particularly popular among children.
Ola explained that the song helped make learning the Arabic alphabet easier and more enjoyable for young viewers.
Behind the seemingly simple content, however, is a significant production process.
Ola revealed that producing a single episode can take considerable time, particularly when it comes to animation. She also addressed assumptions that Satoota's animation is created using AI, explaining that the production process involves writing, testing the material with children and reviewing the audio before completing the final product without using AI.
Building An Audience Organically
Ola also shared the mindset she adopts when creating content for Satoota.
&ldquo;I always put in mind that I am creating for one person, even though I'm talking to hundreds,&rdquo; she explained.
Rather than thinking about a large audience while creating, Ola imagines speaking directly to one child. She believes this makes the content feel more personal and allows the team to better understand whether children are connecting with what they see and hear.
The Moments That Made Ola Proud
For Ola, some of Satoota's most meaningful moments have come from seeing children interact with the content.
She described watching children sing along to Satoota's songs as an emotional experience, particularly because the entire team shares the same vision.
One of the most touching moments, she said, is receiving messages from parents telling her that their children learned their first word through Satoota.
These personal messages have made the journey especially meaningful for Ola, showing her that the platform's impact goes beyond views and subscribers.

From a chance meeting in Dahab, a seaside town on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba, during the pandemic to international electronic music stages, Egyptian-Canadian duo Husa &amp; Zeyada have developed a sound that blends deep house, indie rock and atmospheric synths with Arabic and English lyrics.
For the duo, Dahab became more than just a location; it became part of their creative identity.
During their appearance on "Let's Dance" with Nancy on NileFM, Husa &amp; Zeyada reflected on how they met, how Dahab shaped their creative process, the story behind their electronic reimagining of the late Hany Shenouda's "Hezeny", and their plans for new music and their independent label, Sound School.
A Chance Meeting That Changed Everything
For Husa &amp; Zeyada, the pandemic became the turning point that brought them together.
"We like to believe that somehow we would have found our way to each other," Zeyada said. "But no, not in its current form. We like to believe that things work out because it's fate. We met in Dahab, and that influenced the music that we make."
At the time, Husa had moved to Dahab during the pandemic, while Zeyada had arrived for what was meant to be a short holiday. Through their mutual friend and producer Hot Oasis (Mostafa), they met during one of his final jam sessions before he moved to the UK.
"We just didn't know we were going to be a duo yet," Zeyada recalled. "We met and wanted to get in the studio together."
That first session quickly led to another.
"Two or three days later, we got in the studio, and then we were like, 'Okay, again tomorrow.' And then we never stopped. It just kept happening."
How Dahab Shaped Their Sound
Dahab, a coastal town on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, became more than a location for the duo. It became part of their creative identity.
"Making music reflects you. You reflect your environment when you're making music," Husa explained. "Being in the mountains, with the simplicity and away from city life, definitely reflects in the music."
For Zeyada, who previously studied in New York after growing up in Cairo, living closer to nature changed the way she approached creativity.
"I always thought I'm a city girl. I love the mess of the city. I thrive under chaos," she said. "But I did well, not as well as I did in nature. When I was actually relaxed and surrounded by inspiration, we were a lot more productive when we gave ourselves space, time and nature. It definitely changed everything about the way we make music and our sound."
Husa added that Dahab's international community also influenced their work.
"It's a big part of the place. It has a real native culture and a community with people from different parts of the world."
Blending Two Musical Worlds
Although Zeyada came from an indie rock background and Husa built his career in electronic house music, they never saw their different influences as a challenge.
Instead, they used those contrasts to shape their sound, focusing first on rhythm and feeling.
"We were obsessing over groove," Zeyada explained, describing how a simple musical idea can become the foundation for an entire track.
Their creative process has also evolved. While they initially developed ideas separately, they now work together in their home studio, constantly refining songs until they both feel satisfied.
Why Their First Album Came Together Quickly
While many artists spend years developing their debut albums, Husa &amp; Zeyada completed theirs in just one month.
For Husa, the reason was simplicity.
"The more you know, the more complicated it gets," he said. "We made that first album right after we met each other. Everything was simple. We didn't know enough, so there weren't all these calculations."
As they have grown as artists, they have learned to accept that each song has its own timeline.
"There are albums that took much longer," Zeyada said. "Some songs are finished very quickly, while others take years. We're starting to accept that as part of the process."
Rather than forcing creativity, the duo moves between projects and returns to unfinished songs when the time feels right.
Reimagining Hany Shenouda's "Hezeny"
One of their recent projects is their electronic interpretation of "Hezeny", the classic song originally performed by Al Massrieen and composed by Egyptian musician Hany Shenouda.
While the remix introduces the track to a new audience, it also became one of the duo's most meaningful projects.
"A lot of people recognise the original, which is a brilliant track," Zeyada said. "We actually had the song for almost two years and worked with Hany Shenouda on a new version."
She revealed that Shenouda personally listened to their remix and supported the project.
"He heard it, liked our edit, and wanted to re-release an album with re-edits while keeping the original lyrics. We went back into the studio, re-recorded everything together, and had his approval. That was really a blessing. This project is very close to our hearts."
For Husa &amp; Zeyada, the remix was not simply about updating a classic. It was about celebrating Shenouda's contribution to Egyptian music while introducing his work to a new generation of listeners.
Why Fans Hear New Music Before Release
For the duo, the creative process continues beyond the studio. Many of their songs are tested live before they officially arrive on streaming platforms.
"One cool part about us is that you can always hear unreleased stuff in our live shows," Zeyada said. "We're always finishing new music, so we play it live first."
Performing unfinished material allows them to continue developing songs while sharing that process with their audience.
"We're working on things while we're performing them. They're not even fully finished. We'll go back to the studio and add things or change things."
The approach means every performance can offer something different while giving fans an early glimpse of future releases.
Building More Than a Label
To support their growing catalogue, Husa &amp; Zeyada launched their independent label, Sound School.
Rather than simply releasing music, they see it as a creative platform connecting musicians, visual artists and filmmakers.
"It's more than just a label," they explained. "It's a whole world we're trying to build through audio, visuals and a network of artists working together."
For Husa, creating the label solved a practical challenge.
"We had all this music waiting to be released. Now we have an outlet where projects can continue to grow instead of disappearing after release."
Zeyada said the label also gives them freedom to think beyond short-term success.
"A lot of the time with labels, they're looking at a song as profit now, hype and charts," she said. "I don't want my music to be considered only in that sense. Every song has a story. I don't want it to be consumed now, hit the charts and then disappear a few months later."
Instead, they want each release to remain part of a wider creative world.
New Music on the Way
Husa &amp; Zeyada are preparing several new projects, each exploring a different side of their sound.
They hope to release three albums before the end of the year, including dance and disco-inspired music, an indie-focused record and a rave-oriented project.
Zeyada is also working on a solo Arabic shoegaze project, with Husa helping develop the music.
During their NileFM appearance, the duo premiered an unreleased track titled "Kings Don't Fall".
"It's our most recently finished work," they said. "The album has more punk rock elements with some disco influences. It should start releasing in the fall and be complete by winter."
Their latest project, "To Belong", represents another stage in their evolving musical journey.
Creating Together as Partners
Being creative partners and husband and wife means music is part of almost every aspect of their lives.
"From the beginning, everything was very intertwined," Zeyada said. "Once we got past the question of whether we should mix work and life, it changed everything in great ways."
Working together has also taught them the importance of communication.
"If there's an issue, whether it's personal or music related, we have to deal with it," she explained. "If we don't fix it, everything is on pause."
Rather than separating their personal and professional lives, they have learned to allow each side to strengthen the other.
Taking Their Music Around the World
Although Husa &amp; Zeyada have performed internationally for years, one show remains particularly significant.
They recalled performing alongside renowned DJ Hern&aacute;n Catt&aacute;neo at Sunsetstrip Buenos Aires in 2023, where they played in front of one of the largest crowds of their career.
"That was the moment we looked at each other and thought, 'I think we're making it,'" they said.
The duo are now preparing for further international performances across Germany, Spain, Canada, Mexico and India before returning to Cairo this winter.
Alongside their releases, they hope to continue expanding Sound School as a creative ecosystem for artists.
"We're trying to solidify this ecosystem of artists. People that want to get together for creation."
From a spontaneous jam session in Dahab to international stages and a growing artistic community, Husa &amp; Zeyada continue to build their sound around collaboration, curiosity and connection.

Nevine Salah Eldin turned decades of international travel into inspiration for a handcrafted Egyptian chocolate brand, leaving behind a 30-year career in the travel and aviation industry to pursue a new passion.
Speaking on &ldquo;The Big Drive&rdquo; with Zeinab and Sami as part of the Made in Egypt segment, Nevine shared how she launched &lsquo;Chocolati&egrave;re Delights&rsquo;, a local business focused on premium handmade chocolates.
NileFM explored the story behind the Egyptian brand, which aims to compete with some of the world&rsquo;s finest chocolates while showcasing local creativity and flavours.
Inspired by Swiss Chocolate
During her years in aviation, Nevine frequently travelled to Switzerland, where she developed a strong appreciation for its world-famous chocolate industry.
&ldquo;I used to travel to Switzerland all the time and inspired by Swiss handmade chocolate, I always asked myself, &lsquo;Why don&rsquo;t we have a similar project in Egypt?&rsquo;&rdquo; she said.
In 2025, she decided to step away from her career and explore a completely new path.
&ldquo;I did not know exactly what I wanted to do. My friends always told me I was a good cook, and one day I came across a video of a Russian chocolatier on social media. That was when I decided to learn chocolate-making from scratch.&rdquo;
Although she initially expected the process to be simple, she quickly discovered the challenges involved.
&ldquo;At first, I thought it would be easy, but it is actually very difficult. People try my chocolate and often cannot believe it is handmade in Egypt.&rdquo;
Building an Egyptian Brand
Nevine says the biggest lesson she learned from international companies was the importance of quality.
&ldquo;The most important thing is to provide the best quality possible. Quality allows you to compete with anyone. But it is not enough; you have to continue improving and developing your products.&rdquo;
She believes Egypt has the talent and resources needed to compete in international markets.
&ldquo;We have quality materials and incredibly creative people, so why should we not compete with global brands?&rdquo;
Never Giving Up
Like many entrepreneurs, Nevine faced moments when she considered abandoning her project.
&ldquo;Whenever I had to travel, I did not like producing chocolate and leaving it in storage. Every occasion made me think about quitting.&rdquo;
However, her ambition kept bringing her back.
&ldquo;The next day, I would tell myself, &lsquo;No, this is my dream.&rsquo; I wanted to create an Egyptian product that could compete with Belgian and Swiss chocolate, and I refused to fail.&rdquo;
Today, her products are made entirely with premium ingredients, and she continues to look for ways to make the brand stand out.
In September 2026, she plans to launch a new collection inspired entirely by Egyptian flavours.
Quality Beyond the Price Tag
For Nevine, premium quality is not simply about choosing the most expensive ingredients.
&ldquo;Premium does not always mean using the most expensive brands. Sometimes the best ingredient is not the priciest one.&rdquo;
She added that many customers now prefer her Egyptian creations over imported chocolates.
The Power of Social Media
Social media played an important role in helping Nevine launch and grow her business.
&ldquo;First of all, I got the idea from social media. It is also one of the best ways to reach customers.&rdquo;
Her first customers were friends, but recommendations quickly helped the brand expand.
&ldquo;Many of the people who ordered from me did not even know it was my own brand at first. Over time, many customers became friends.&rdquo;
Celebrating Egyptian Identity
One of the most distinctive elements of &lsquo;Chocolati&egrave;re Delights&rsquo; is its Egyptian-inspired chocolate designs.
&ldquo;I wanted something that represents our Egyptian identity.&rdquo;
The idea began when a friend asked her to create a special Egyptian gift for a Chinese client. Nevine started developing Pharaonic-inspired chocolate moulds, although finding suitable designs was not always easy.
The collection gained wider attention following the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, later attracting interest from customers abroad, including in Poland.
What&rsquo;s Next?
Nevine is preparing to launch a new range of 100% Egyptian-inspired chocolate products in September 2026, continuing her mission of showcasing local flavours through handmade chocolate.
Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Nevine ended the interview with a message for those considering starting their own businesses:
&ldquo;Do not wait for the perfect time because it never comes. It is never too late to start. I began a completely new career in my early fifties, and that is proof that dreams have no age limit.&rdquo;

Trabzonspor Reject Fatih Tekke&rsquo;s Resignation
Salah&rsquo;s message came after Trabzonspor rejected head coach Fatih Tekke&rsquo;s resignation following the heavy defeat.

Omar Marmoush&rsquo;s Journey To The Premier League
Born in Cairo, Marmoush began his professional career with Wadi Degla at the age of 17 before moving to Germany and joining VfL Wolfsburg in 2017.
He subsequently spent time on loan at FC St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart, where he earned Bundesliga Rookie of the Month honours, before returning to Wolfsburg and establishing himself as a first-team player.
Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 and enjoyed an impressive spell at the club, scoring 37 goals and providing 20 assists in 67 appearances.
His performances earned him a move to Manchester City in January 2025.
Marmoush made an immediate impact in the Premier League, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in February 2025.
He went on to score 16 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions for City.

From ancient Egyptian artefacts displayed in China to ballet performances, exhibitions, cinema, language exchange and cultural festivals, Egypt and China have built extensive cultural ties reflecting the shared heritage of two of the world's oldest civilisations.
The relationship is set to receive further attention as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to visit Egypt in the coming days, according to the Egyptian Presidency.
Presidential spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said Xi will meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss ways of strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as regional and international issues.
Beyond political and economic cooperation, culture, heritage and people-to-people exchanges have remained important elements of Egypt-China relations.
A new documentary book, &ldquo;Egyptian-Chinese Relations Over 70 Years&rdquo;, has also been issued by Egypt's State Information Service, documenting the development of ties since diplomatic relations were established on 30 May 1956. Published in Arabic and Chinese, the book covers major milestones in the political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological relationship between the two countries.
Egypt-China Cultural Year
One of the most significant milestones in cultural cooperation came in 2016, when Egypt and China designated the year as the Egyptian-Chinese Cultural Year.
The year was launched by El-Sisi and Xi during a joint celebration at Luxor Temple in January 2016, marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The opening ceremony featured more than 200 performers from Egypt and China in a programme bringing together music, dance, ballet and other art forms.
The wider cultural year included around 200 events, including visual arts exhibitions and performances by Chinese and Cairo Opera Ballet artists.
Egypt continued to expand its cultural presence in China, taking part in the Shanghai Tourism Festival in September 2017, where it received the Most Popular Tourist Destination award.
In September 2020, Egypt also participated in the International Tourism and Culture Exhibition in Guangzhou, showcasing Egyptian cultural and heritage products alongside tourism programmes.
Ancient Egyptian Heritage On Display In China
Archaeology has become another important area of Egypt-China cultural cooperation, giving Chinese audiences opportunities to explore Egypt's ancient civilisation through major exhibitions.
In February 2024, Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities and the Shanghai Museum signed a cooperation protocol for a temporary archaeological exhibition in China.
&ldquo;On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt&rdquo; opened at the Shanghai Museum in July 2024, featuring 787 artefacts from different periods of ancient Egyptian civilisation. The exhibition included statues, jewellery, coffins and other objects illustrating aspects of kingship, daily life, religion, writing and beliefs about the afterlife.
The exhibition attracted significant interest in China, with tickets for its opening day selling out and hundreds of thousands of tickets sold before and shortly after its opening.
The exhibition was also described by Egyptian officials as an important platform for promoting cultural tourism and strengthening people-to-people understanding between the two countries.
Education And Language As Cultural Bridges
Education and language have also played an important role in Egypt-China cultural exchange.
The two countries have cooperated on introducing Chinese as an optional second foreign language in Egyptian schools, while educational initiatives have also encouraged exchanges between students and institutions. Around 24,000 Chinese students study Arabic in Egypt, while 16 Egyptian universities have established Chinese language departments or teach Chinese as part of their curricula.
Egypt is home to Confucius Institutes at Suez Canal University, Cairo University and Ain Shams University, supporting Chinese-language and cultural education.
Chinese-language programmes have also expanded at Egyptian universities, while Egyptian students have opportunities to study in China.
The Egyptian Luban Workshop has added another dimension to educational cooperation, providing technical and vocational training for young Egyptians.
Cinema, Visual Arts And Cultural Activities
The Chinese Cultural Center in Cairo has become another platform for cultural exchange, hosting activities covering cinema, traditional arts, visual arts and Chinese culture, as well as joint exhibitions and cultural events.
Such programmes give audiences in Egypt opportunities to learn more about Chinese culture while providing opportunities for artists from both countries to meet and collaborate.

He added that many experienced entrepreneurs avoid working with people who believe success should simply be handed to them. Convincing High-Profile Guests to Say Yes One of the questions Kerolos receives most often is how he convinces influential entrepreneurs to appear in his videos. His answer is surprisingly simple. Many of the successful people he interviews aren't interested in publicity at all. "I actually love interviewing people who don't like publicity." Instead of focusing on exposure, he approaches them by explaining how their stories can provide value to others, support charitable initiatives, or inspire future entrepreneurs. "It's never about making them famous. They don't need that." Confidence Comes From Repetition For Kerolos, confidence isn't something people are born with, it develops through repetition. The Craziest Way He Landed a Collaboration Persistence paid off in one unforgettable experience while filming in South Africa. After being rejected five separate times by a potential guest, Kerolos came up with an unconventional solution. He convinced people around the executive to schedule what appeared to be a professional meeting, giving him the opportunity to finally speak with the businessman face-to-face. After a 30-minute conversation, the executive agreed to meet him again the following morning. The experience reinforced Kerolos' belief that persistence often succeeds when paired with creativity and respect. From Threat to Teammate
A lot of creatives are changing the game; AI isn&rsquo;t the enemy, it&rsquo;s the new collaborator. Producers are using it to test weird sounds they&rsquo;d never try otherwise. Content creators lean on it to beat blank-page panic or tighten a messy first draft.
Grimes basically set the tone for this mindset. She told fans to go ahead and use AI versions of her voice in their music, just split the royalties if it makes money. No lawsuits, no drama. Just, &ldquo;Let&rsquo;s see what happens.&rdquo;
&nbsp;But then there&rsquo;s the other side. Those viral AI tracks with &ldquo;Drake&rdquo; and &ldquo;The Weeknd&rdquo; last year? Neither artist stepped in a booth. It blew up the whole conversation around consent, identity, and who actually owns a sound.
The Copyright Mess
This is where it gets tense. AI models train on massive amounts of existing work; songs, scripts, paintings, and photos. A lot of it is copyrighted. Most of it was used without permission.
That&rsquo;s why the lawsuits keep coming. The Writers Guild of America drew a hard line during the strikes: AI can&rsquo;t write your screenplay. Human writers stay in control.
Illustrators and photographers are saying the same thing. If your art was used to teach a machine that now generates images in your style, and you weren&rsquo;t asked or paid, that&rsquo;s a problem.&nbsp;
So What&rsquo;s Happening in Egypt?
&nbsp;Cairo&rsquo;s creative scene is already testing the waters. Open TikTok or Instagram and you&rsquo;ll find young Egyptian producers dropping AI-assisted beats, designers using it for quick edits, and digital artists experimenting with new styles.
&nbsp;For a lot of them, AI isn&rsquo;t scary. It&rsquo;s leverage. In a digital economy where speed and volume matter, being able to pitch three solid concepts before noon instead of one by Thursday is a game-changer.
The questions we&rsquo;re still figuring out: Who&rsquo;s teaching people how to use these tools well? Are agencies, labels, and studios ready for how fast this is moving? And if access isn&rsquo;t equal, who gets left behind?
We&rsquo;ve Been Here Before
Every major creative tool started with panic. Photoshop was going to kill photography. Auto-Tune was going to kill real singers. Drum machines were going to kill drummers.
One analyst told the BBC: &ldquo;Every innovation in creative tools starts with fear. Then we realize it just expands what&rsquo;s possible. The human part doesn&rsquo;t disappear, it just moves.&rdquo;
AI can generate, remix, and suggest all day. But it doesn&rsquo;t get obsessed with a weird idea at 2 am. It doesn&rsquo;t have taste. It doesn&rsquo;t have a point of view or a story it needs to tell.

Is AI Replacing Creativity or Supercharging It? How AI Tools Are Changing Music, Art, and Everyday Life

Egypt&rsquo;s Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has announced the launch of a nationwide medical and ambulance plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026, aimed at ensuring readiness across the health system during the holiday period.
The ministry said more than 700 government hospitals have increased emergency preparedness, with emergency departments and operating theatres functioning around the clock as travel and public gatherings rise.
Ambulance Services and Rapid Response
The plan includes enhanced deployment by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, with around 3,000 ambulances operating across governorates and an additional 1,200 vehicles positioned at key locations.
Ambulances have been stationed near main roads, public squares, mosques, Eid prayer areas, parks, and other gathering points. Twenty-seven emergency rooms are linked to a central control centre to enable real-time monitoring and dispatch, while regional officials oversee high-traffic areas.

Focus on Major Roads
Authorities say priority has been given to major routes, including the coastal road between Damietta and Matrouh, the Cairo-Alexandria desert road, the agricultural road, as well as routes in South Sinai, the Red Sea, and Upper Egypt.
More than 600 fixed and mobile ambulance points have been deployed along these roads to allow rapid response to accidents.
Hospital Preparedness
Hospitals have also increased capacity in emergency and intensive care units. Around 250 facilities have been designated as primary referral centres on highways, supported by 54 rapid response teams for large-scale incidents.
Blood banks have been supplied with an additional 40,000 units, and medical stocks have been reinforced to meet potential demand.
Public Health Measures
The preventive medicine sector has intensified inspections of more than 35,000 food outlets, including sweet shops, restaurants, hotels, parks, and public transport hubs.
Around 1,200 inspection teams have been deployed to monitor compliance with health and safety standards.

Defining Herself as an Educator
Nesma shared her personal perspective on her role: &ldquo;So I&rsquo;m at the British Council, but how I define myself is as an educator, an education researcher. I&rsquo;ve been working in higher education for 15 years, which technically means research around higher education opportunities within the region, with the aim of informing the UK sector of these opportunities and then bridging, making connections, and building these relationships between the UK, Egypt, and beyond.&rdquo;
When asked why education is such a passion, she said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve always been a lifelong learner. Education is at the core of development, supporting people to find what they&rsquo;re meant to do and helping nations meet their goals. Knowledge is power, regardless of where it comes from.&rdquo;
What is Transnational Education?
The discussion then turned to transnational education (TNE). Nesma explained: &ldquo;Transnational education is when a university in one country offers a programme or a degree in another country, physically moving to meet students where they are. Instead of Egyptian students travelling to get a degree in the UK, the UK institution comes to Egypt and delivers that in-country through different models.&rdquo;
She highlighted the accessibility of this model: &ldquo;This increases access to international education for students who can&rsquo;t travel for personal, family, or financial reasons. You get the benefits of an international degree without ever having to leave home.&rdquo;
Models of Transnational Education
On international branch campuses: &ldquo;This is one of the independent models of transnational education where a university expands to a new country, offering the same programmes and teaching methods, and bringing its expertise into a new context. Students graduate with one international degree that is very similar to what they would receive if they studied abroad.&rdquo;
On joint degrees: &ldquo;Joint degrees are when two universities come together to develop a programme. You have international expertise alongside local knowledge, creating something relevant to students and their context. It&rsquo;s co-created, combining the strengths of both institutions into one degree accredited by both.&rdquo;
On digital learning: &ldquo;This could be fully online learning, where you&rsquo;re in Egypt studying at a university abroad, which is still transnational education. There are also blended models combining online and face-to-face learning, usually involving a local partner and an international partner. The international side may develop the virtual learning environment and resources, while local expertise ensures the content is contextualised. Exams, for example, may take place in Egypt, even if systems are hosted abroad.&rdquo;
Why Egypt is a Key Destination
Egypt has become the fourth-largest host country globally for UK transnational education programmes, with around 38,000 students enrolled. Nesma explained the appeal: &ldquo;Egypt has 3.8 million students in higher education, expected to grow to 5 million by 2030. There&rsquo;s strong demand, and universities in Egypt are keen to partner with international counterparts. Students trust UK institutions, and government strategies highlight internationalisation as a priority.&rdquo;
The Benefits for Students
The advantages extend beyond studying locally. Nesma highlighted global recognition and employability: &ldquo;You get a degree that can be used anywhere in the world without needing revalidation. Students also develop critical thinking, leadership, communication, and intercultural skills that are highly valued by employers.&rdquo;
She also emphasised the British Council&rsquo;s role: &ldquo;We work with governments, institutions, and learners. We help ensure supportive regulations, bring stakeholders together through networking, and guide students on accessing opportunities. Everything we do is research-driven to continuously improve partnerships.&rdquo;
Regional Collaboration through Deep Dialogues
Nesma discussed the recent regional Deep Dialogue in Cairo: &ldquo;Participants from 11 countries came together to learn from different models of transnational education. Mature ecosystems like Egypt shared insights with countries still developing their frameworks. We discussed regulation, quality assurance, and engaged directly with students to understand their experiences.&rdquo;
She added, &ldquo;These dialogues build a community of practice. Connections continue beyond the event, creating sustainable networks that support education across the region.&rdquo;
Looking Ahead
Nesma concluded with a forward-looking perspective: &ldquo;Successful models in more developed systems can help guide countries in earlier stages. At its core, this is about improving education, expanding opportunities, and empowering students to reach their potential while contributing to society. The British Council plays a key role in building the connections, understanding, and trust needed to make this ecosystem sustainable.&rdquo;
