If Mamma Mia 3 is on the horizon, Amanda Seyfried is already packing her bags for Kalokairi&mdash;complete with a little movie magic and a lot of love for Sabrina Carpenter.

Seyfried confirmed&mdash;to ABC news what longtime fans have been quietly hoping: she&rsquo;s ready to return, even if it means playing a whole new kind of role. &ldquo;Mamma Mia 3, let&rsquo;s go baby,&rdquo; she said, crossing her fingers. &ldquo;Everybody says it&rsquo;s gonna happen. But I mean, I haven&rsquo;t seen a script.&rdquo;

Still, when asked about Carpenter joining the franchise, Seyfried didn&rsquo;t hesitate. &ldquo;Technically, she could play my daughter,&rdquo; she said, laughing off the age difference. &ldquo;If Sabrina Carpenter wants to play my daughter, I&rsquo;ll make it happen. It&rsquo;s fine. I&rsquo;m a big fan.&rdquo;

Carpenter&mdash;who recently sang the musical&rsquo;s title track during a Madison Square Garden show&mdash;might be an unexpected choice, but not an unwelcome one. She&rsquo;s got the pipes, the charisma and the timing. And age? As Seyfried reminded us, in Mamma Mia world, that&rsquo;s flexible at best. &ldquo;You&rsquo;re right, actually, it doesn&rsquo;t matter,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;Old age makeup for me. That&rsquo;s what it will be. I&rsquo;m an actor. I&rsquo;ll do it.&rdquo;

It wouldn&rsquo;t be the first time the timeline bent to suit the story. Cher played Meryl Streep&rsquo;s mother in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again despite being only three years older. If anything, that unspoken rule is part of the charm&mdash;continuity takes a backseat to emotion, ensemble energy, and ABBA-fueled catharsis.

The momentum behind a third installment is building. Producer Judy Craymer has teased new directions for the story&mdash;possibly a deeper look into Lily James&rsquo;s Donna or a follow-up to Donna and Sam&rsquo;s arc. In May, Streep told Deadline that talks were &ldquo;imminent,&rdquo; adding, &ldquo;They have an idea.&rdquo; She even floated a soap-opera-style twist: &ldquo;It could be like in one of those soap operas where Donna comes back and reveals it was really her twin sister that died.&rdquo;

&ldquo;I&rsquo;m up for anything,&rdquo; she told Vogue last fall. &ldquo;If there&rsquo;s an idea that excites me, I&rsquo;m totally there.&rdquo;

And there&rsquo;s reason to believe something&rsquo;s brewing. Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley has confirmed the studio &ldquo;would love to make a third movie.&rdquo; Producer Gary Goetzman echoed the sentiment: &ldquo;There have been some conversations. I really think it&rsquo;ll happen.&rdquo;

For now, it&rsquo;s a waiting game&mdash;but a hopeful one. And as the fantasy casting swirls online and fans queue up their ABBA playlists yet again, it&rsquo;s clear: this franchise isn&rsquo;t finished singing.

If Carpenter is the next to step onto that island stage, Seyfried&rsquo;s ready to pass the mic&mdash;and maybe the floral crown, too.
