As Egypt celebrates the 52nd anniversary of the 6th of October Victory, a moment that fills every Egyptian with pride, many are rediscovering inspiring stories of beloved stars who once wore the military uniform. These familiar faces, known for their talent and charisma, also played real-life roles in one of Egypt&rsquo;s most defining chapters.
Lotfy Labib
Before becoming one of Egypt&rsquo;s most beloved comedians, the late Lotfy Labib proudly served his country. After graduating from the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts, he enlisted in the Egyptian Armed Forces in 1970, joining the Morale Affairs Department of the Third Field Army. His mission was to locate and reunite soldiers who had gone missing after the 1967 defeat.
On October 6, 1973, his battalion was among the first to cross the Suez Canal. Labib later documented his wartime experiences in his book Battalion 26, detailing his life on the front lines between September 1973 and February 1974.

Ahmed Bedier
Known for his comedic brilliance and charm, Ahmed Bedier is also remembered as a real-life hero. He often recalls his wartime memories, including a touching story about a fallen comrade who left him a message for his family, asking that condolences be postponed until Egypt was completely liberated. Bedier fulfilled that wish, a memory that remains close to his heart.

Ahmed Fouad Selim
Before his rise to fame, Ahmed Fouad Selim served as a sergeant in the Air Defense Forces after graduating from the Faculty of Commerce. Stationed on the front lines with the Eighth Division, he witnessed firsthand the bravery of his comrades and often spoke about the crucial role of the Air Defense Forces in protecting Egypt&rsquo;s skies during the war.

While he didn&rsquo;t serve on the battlefield, the legendary singer Abdel Halim Hafez played an equally powerful role. Through his stirring patriotic songs, he lifted the spirits of Egyptian soldiers and became the voice of a nation united in courage and hope.
