The 46th Cairo International Film Festival is presenting today, Friday 14 November, the Middle East and North Africa premiere of Once Upon a Time in Gaza, directed by Arab and Tarzan Nasser. The film is featured in the festival&rsquo;s Gala programme and is also competing in the International Competition.
The screening will be held at 6:00 PM in the Main Hall of the Cairo Opera House.
&nbsp;The feature-length drama is a co-production between France, Palestine, Germany, Portugal, Qatar and Jordan, with a runtime of 87 minutes.
&nbsp;Set in Gaza in 2007, the film follows Yahya, a young student who forms an unexpected friendship with Osama, a compassionate drug dealer. The pair begin selling drugs from a falafel shop, but their modest operation quickly unravels after an encounter with a corrupt and overbearing police officer. The narrative unfolds into a tense, intimate portrait of strained relationships and the stark realities facing a society living under crisis.
&nbsp;The film is directed by the Nasser brothers, Tarzan and Arab Nasser, who were born in Gaza in 1988. They first gained international attention with their short film Condom Lead, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival. Their debut feature, D&eacute;grad&eacute;, was showcased during Cannes Critics&rsquo; Week, while their second feature, Gaza Mon Amour, premiered in the Horizons section of the Venice Film Festival and went on to become Palestine&rsquo;s submission to the 93rd Academy Awards.
