The distance between modern celebrity and ancient civilisation can be surprisingly small. On Thursday, Academy Award&ndash;winning actor Will Smith visited the Pyramids of Giza, stepping into one of the world&rsquo;s most enduring symbols of human history.
According to a statement issued by Egypt&rsquo;s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Smith toured the Giza plateau to explore the site&rsquo;s archaeological and historical significance. He was received by Dr Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, who briefed him on the area&rsquo;s key monuments, major discoveries and the wider legacy of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
During the visit, the actor showed close interest in the historical details presented to him, engaging with explanations about the monuments and their cultural importance. Officials said he expressed admiration for the richness and depth of Egypt&rsquo;s ancient heritage.
Smith was accompanied by Ashraf Mohie El-Din, Director General of Giza Antiquities, on a guided tour inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, where he explored its internal chambers and corridors. He also took commemorative photographs and praised the scale and ingenuity of the ancient structures, describing them as a remarkable achievement in human history.
The actor reportedly told officials that he intends to return to Egypt in the spring with his family for another visit.
Smith previously visited Egypt in 2017, when he shared images from the Giza pyramids and spoke publicly of his fascination with their beauty and grandeur, an interest that appears to have endured.
