Egypt Weather | Hot Spring Temperatures Across Cairo And Upper Egypt – 24 May

In a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity, the &ldquo;Street of Art&rdquo; (Sharea El Fen) initiative is returning to downtown Cairo as the Academy of Arts launches the second week of its public cultural programme at Al-Sharifain Street, according to a statement shared on the official page of the Ministry of Culture.
Held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nabila Hassan, President of the Academy of Arts, the events will take place from Thursday, 21 May to Saturday, 23 May, daily from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The initiative reflects the Academy&rsquo;s ongoing vision of bringing art beyond traditional venues and into public spaces, making cultural and artistic experiences accessible to all segments of society through a diverse programme blending heritage with contemporary expression.
The week&rsquo;s programme features a wide range of artistic and interactive performances, including the traditional &ldquo;Sandouk El Donya&rdquo; (Box of the World) show, a creative workshop led by Dr. Adel Nagy, and a poetry segment presented by the Higher Institute of Child Arts. The programme also includes an &ldquo;Aragouz&rdquo; puppet performance in collaboration with Bayt al-Suhaymi.
The Higher Institute of Folk Arts will present authentic Egyptian heritage performances, including the &ldquo;Fellahi Dance&rdquo; and &ldquo;Tanoura,&rdquo; while the musical programme features &ldquo;Neapolitan Musical&rdquo; by Dr. Osama Ali, alongside an oriental singing performance by artist Lydia Farouk. The line-up also includes operatic singing and instrumental performances by Haneen El Sayed and Omar Nagy.
Alongside the performances, visual art exhibitions will run throughout the week from Thursday to Wednesday, showcasing painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphic design, engraving and printmaking in collaboration with the Syndicate of Plastic Artists.
Organisers have also introduced interactive participation tools, allowing visitors to share feedback and suggestions through QR codes displayed on promotional materials.
The &ldquo;Street of Art&rdquo; initiative aims to strengthen the direct connection between audiences and the arts while revitalising cultural life in the public spaces of downtown Cairo.
By transforming a historic Cairo street into an open cultural stage, &ldquo;Street of Art&rdquo; is not only showcasing performances, but also redefining the relationship between people and art, proving that creativity becomes most powerful when it is shared in public spaces.

“Street of Art” Returns To Cairo’s Heart As Academy Of Arts Launches Week Two Events At Al-Sharifain Street

The US dollar fell slightly against the Egyptian pound on Thursday, according to exchange rates published by the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
The dollar traded at EGP 52.90 for buying and EGP 53 for selling, compared with EGP 53.10 in the previous session.
The British pound also recorded a slight decline, reaching EGP 70.97 for buying and EGP 71.25 for selling.
Meanwhile, the euro fell to EGP 61.33 for buying and EGP 61.66 for selling.
China&rsquo;s yuan, however, edged slightly higher, recording EGP 7.77 for buying and EGP 7.80 for selling.
Among Gulf currencies, the UAE dirham declined to EGP 14.38 for buying and EGP 14.43 for selling.
Overall, the Egyptian pound showed modest gains against several major international and regional currencies amid ongoing fluctuations in the foreign exchange market.

Exchange Rates | Egyptian Pound Strengthens Slightly Against US Dollar – 21 May

Egypt is set to experience a continued drop in temperatures across the country, with Cairo recording a daytime high of 29&deg;C on Thursday, 21 May 2026, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
During the day, weather conditions are expected to range from mild to hot across most parts of the country, while temperatures at night will be moderate.
There is also a chance of light rain at intervals over parts of the northern coast and the northern Nile Delta.
Winds are expected to be active across most areas, ranging between 30 and 45 km/h. They may stir up sand and dust in parts of the Western Desert, Upper and Lower Egypt, the Red Sea Governorate, and South Sinai at times.
Maritime navigation is expected to be disrupted in some areas along the Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts, as well as the Gulfs of Suez and Aqaba, due to wind speeds reaching 40 to 50 km/h and wave heights ranging between 2 and 3 metres.
The EMA also noted a slight chance of low clouds forming over scattered areas of the southern Nile Delta, Greater Cairo, and the Suez Canal cities, which may lead to light and insignificant drizzle in some locations.
