The Ministry of Education and Technical Education launched today a series of community dialogue sessions that will take place for several days, according to its official Facebook page, with the participation of various parties relevant to the educational organization to discuss the proposal of the Egyptian baccalaureate certificate system.
The series of community dialogue sessions are scheduled to begin today, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdul Ghafar, Deputy Prime Minister&nbsp;and&nbsp;Minister&nbsp;of&nbsp;Health&nbsp;and&nbsp;Population, Dr. Ayman Ashour Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Mr. Mohamed Abdul Latif Minister of Education and Technical Education.
The sessions begin today with a meeting with a number of experts and specialists in the pre-university education field, another meeting will also be held with the country's Board of Trustees, Parents, and Teachers to hear various opinions and suggestions on the Egyptian baccalaureate certification system.
The aim of the series of community dialogue sessions is to hear the various insights into the details of the proposal for the Egyptian baccalaureate certificate and the reduction in the number of subjects, as well as the various paths that could be chosen by students, in addition to discussing the general rules of the total grades and the multiple attempts to enter the exam in the different subjects.
It's worth mentioning that the Minister of Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif,&nbsp;announced&nbsp;during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the 8 of January, the new Egyptian Baccalaureate Certificate system, which is set to replace the traditional secondary school system.&nbsp;
The minister outlined the main components of the new system, stressing that intellectual abilities and critical thinking should be prioritized above memorization. In place of final examinations at the conclusion of the school year, The system will integrate subjects across different fields, such as science, literature, and art, and offer continuous assessment over two years instead of final exams at the end of the school year.
The&nbsp;Egyptian Baccalaureate system will start when students enter the first year of secondary school, and it will include core subjects such as Arabic, religious studies, history, mathematics, and sciences. Additional subjects like programming and computer science will not be included in the total score.
In the second year, students will have the option to specialize in one of four tracks, medicine and life sciences, engineering and computer science, business, or literature and arts. Each track will have its specific subjects such as biology, physics, accounting, or psychology.
In the third year, students will continue their specialized subjects at an advanced level, with exams held in May and July for the second-year subjects, and June and August for the third-year subjects. The first exam attempt is free, with a fee of 500 EGP (USD 9.88) for each subsequent attempt.&nbsp;
