The US dollar recorded a slight decline against the Egyptian pound on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, extending a recent trend of relative stability, according to the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
The dollar stood at EGP 51.78, down from EGP 51.93 in the previous session, a decrease of EGP 0.15.
The British pound also fell, trading at EGP 69.88 for buying and EGP 70.21 for selling.
Meanwhile, the euro edged lower to EGP 60.76 for buying and EGP 61.02 for selling.
The Chinese yuan dipped slightly to EGP 7.58 for buying and EGP 7.60 for selling.
Regional currencies showed a similar pattern. The UAE dirham declined to EGP 14.08 for buying and EGP 14.12 for selling, amid demand linked to travel, remittances and economic ties with Gulf countries.
The Egyptian pound saw limited fluctuations during the session, as authorities continue efforts to balance import demand with inflows from tourism, investment and remittances.
