The iconic fashion movie is officially back &mdash; and it&rsquo;s arriving sooner than we expected. Rumor has it Meryl Streep is returning and more deliciously terrifying than ever. According to Deadline, the release date is set for May 1, 2026, which means we&rsquo;re less than a year away from fashion chaos returning to the big screen.

Although Anne Hathaway famously said back in 2022 that she didn&rsquo;t think a sequel was likely &mdash; &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know if there can be a sequel,&rdquo; she admitted, adding that the original captured a very specific moment in time that&rsquo;s now gone &mdash; things have clearly changed. Thankfully, Aline Brosh McKenna was tapped to write the script in July 2024, and that gave fans everything they needed to start hoping again.

For context, The Devil Wears Prada was based on Lauren Weisberger&rsquo;s 2003 novel of the same name. It followed Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a recent journalism grad who lands a job as assistant to the infamously icy Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of a top fashion magazine. The story unravelled Andy&rsquo;s struggle to survive the high-gloss brutality of the fashion world &mdash; and how she slowly transformed in it.

When the film first hit theaters in 2006, it exploded at the box office, earning around $326 million globally and instantly becoming a cult classic.

The confirmed returning cast includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and of course, Anne Hathaway &mdash; and yes, the iconic Stanley Tucci will be back as the magazine&rsquo;s ever-discerning artistic director.

While not officially confirmed, buzz has it that the original director&mdash;David Frankl&mdash;is also set to return &mdash; and the cameras will roll in the upcoming months, be ready cause we&rsquo;re about to witness the world&rsquo;s most anticipated sequel!
