The initiative offers total awards of USD 120,000, including USD 50,000 in financial support and USD 70,000 in technical support, designed to fuel innovative ideas and accelerate the growth of women-led ventures. The initiative reflects CEO Women&rsquo;s strong belief that investing in women&rsquo;s creativity is essential to driving economic and social development.
Mona Morad, Founder and CEO of CEO Women, highlighted the significance of the competition, stating: &ldquo;She FinTech represents a vital platform to advance women&rsquo;s presence in both digital and financial sectors. We are committed to creating opportunities for visibility, growth, and regional expansion for women-led businesses.&rdquo;
The competition expands regionally to include participants from across the Middle East and North Africa, establishing She FinTech as a leading platform that brings together women innovators and fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange across the region.
The winning companies will be announced during a special ceremony held at the closing of the CEO Women 2026 events in Cairo, in the presence of distinguished leaders, experts, and key figures from the financial and technology sectors.

Right before the night kicks off at 10:00 PM on NileFM, this week&rsquo;s DJ of the Week, Joe Aiaad, is gearing up for a major moment in his fast-growing music journey. He started out as an events coordinator and only moved into DJing recently, but his quick rise, sharp taste and effortless connection with the crowd have already made him one of the standout new names in Egypt&rsquo;s electronic scene.
This week, NileFM dives into Joe&rsquo;s story, his sound, and the surprises he has lined up for tonight&rsquo;s set.
Let&rsquo;s start at the very beginning. Who is Joe Aiaad, and where did your journey into DJing truly begin? Joe Aiaad is an events coordinator turned entertainment manager at TLT Concepts. My journey into DJing began behind the scenes in 2022, where I watched and learned. In 2023, I had my first official gig behind the decks.
You&rsquo;ve only been active since early 2023, yet you&rsquo;ve already made your mark. What was the moment when you thought, &ldquo;This is real.. Are things taking off&rdquo;?
 When it was my first time to be behind the decks infront of a crowd who wanted to dance and have fun and I am responsible for keeping their momentum and their energy, and also when I started to study more and explore more about mixing and DJing it is always ( now it is real and things are taking off so I have to focus more).
You&rsquo;re known for Afro House, Afro Tech, Oriental House, and melodic sounds. What is it about these genres that captures you? What attracts me to Afro House, Afro Tech, Oriental House, and melodic genres is their unique ability to merge rhythm, culture, and emotion. Afro-driven music brings organic percussion and energy, while Oriental and melodic influences offer richness and atmosphere. Together, they create a dynamic soundscape that&rsquo;s both powerful and soulful. These genres allow me to express myself in a way that feels authentic and globally connected.

My focus is on creating a deep emotional connection with the crowd&mdash;using percussion, harmony, and tension in a way that feels intentional and immersive. I strive for a balance between cultural richness and modern electronic energy, so the audience experiences something unique, memorable, and true to my artistic identity.
 What has been the biggest challenge in your career so far, and how did you push through it?
My biggest challenge is always to keep the connection between the crowd and me on the dance floor, which makes them always happy with the music, so I will hear positive feedback.
 Egypt&rsquo;s music scene is evolving fast. How do you see your place within it, and where do you think you&rsquo;re making the strongest impact? I feel lucky to be part of Egypt&rsquo;s growing music scene. I&rsquo;m trying my best to good position, I just hope the music I play adds something positive. If I&rsquo;m making an impact, it&rsquo;s by staying authentic and bringing my own sounds to people who connect with them, and very soon, it will be more than DJing and mixing.

It&rsquo;s not something I take for granted&mdash;if anything, it motivates me to keep improving, stay true to my sound, and continue sharing music that connects with listeners.

&ldquo;You shall not be poor; you shall not be miserable; poverty shall not bow you down.&rdquo;
The words, taken from the Book of the Dead, appear on Ma&rsquo;at, the monumental artwork by Egyptian artist Salha Almasry, the only Egyptian participant in the fifth edition of &ldquo;Forever Is Now,&rdquo; held at the Giza Plateau from 11 November to 6 December 2025.

Almasry&rsquo;s work draws on the ancient Egyptian principle of Ma&rsquo;at, associated with truth, justice, and balance. She reimagines a royal seal ring, once a small object of authority used to authenticate documents, as a large-scale public structure. Its surface is engraved with phrases reflecting values of dignity, responsibility, and social equity that she says lie at the heart of Egypt&rsquo;s cultural legacy.
The ring&rsquo;s circular opening is aligned to frame the peak of a Pyramid when viewed from a specific point. Its interior edge casts a shifting shadow through the day, marking the movement of the sun and offering a visual reminder of time and continuity.

NileFM spoke with Salha Almasry about her vision and the experience of creating Ma&rsquo;at.

How did you feel when invited to participate in &ldquo;Forever Is Now,&rdquo; especially given the location? I was genuinely thrilled. I&rsquo;ve followed the exhibition since its first edition and recognize its significance both in Egypt and internationally. Showing a contemporary artwork at the Pyramids felt powerful, and I wanted the piece to resonate with every visitor.
You are the only Egyptian artist this year. How did that responsibility feel? It was a major responsibility. I was the sole Egyptian among artists from France, Russia, Lebanon, Brazil, and more. I felt the weight of representing Egyptian civilization&mdash;its values, concepts, and depth. The feedback was encouraging; many said the work felt strongly rooted in Egyptian heritage.

The Artwork
The monumental ring brings together ancient symbolism and contemporary interpretation. Historically, royal seal rings bore the king&rsquo;s name and served as tools of authority. Almasry transforms this idea, shifting the ring from a private emblem to a shared public space.
Engravings on the surface include:
&bull; &ldquo;I shall not deprive the poor of their possessions.&rdquo; &bull; &ldquo;You shall not be poor; you shall not be miserable; poverty shall not bow you down.&rdquo; &bull; &ldquo;Show kindness to the needy.&rdquo; &bull; &ldquo;Do not favour the son of a rich man over the commoner.&rdquo; &bull; &ldquo;Do not strip the poor of their belongings.&rdquo; &bull; &ldquo;There shall be no hungry person in my time.&rdquo;
The circular form becomes a kind of visual scale, balancing presence and absence, authority and community; a contemporary expression of the principle of Ma&rsquo;at.

Messages and Inspirations
Earlier this year, Almasry exhibited in the Empower Her showcase at the Grand Egyptian Museum. Her work there attracted the attention of Nadine Abdel Ghaffar, founder of Art D&rsquo;&Eacute;gypte, who later invited her to join Forever Is Now. This project prompted her to shift from pottery to metal to meet the demands of a large outdoor installation.

What themes does your work explore? There isn&rsquo;t a single message. For artists, I want to highlight the importance of revisiting ancient Egyptian civilization, its philosophy, values, and depth. For audiences, it&rsquo;s a reminder that Egyptians left behind not only monuments but ideas that shaped human ethics.
What do you hope visitors take from it? My practice has long been rooted in ancient Egypt. I studied ceramics and developed pieces inspired by historical forms. Even my first solo exhibition used pit-firing techniques dating back to the pre-dynastic era. This year, I shifted to metal to match the scale and outdoor conditions at the Pyramids.
Do you believe art can truly last forever? Ancient Egypt shows that art can endure&mdash;but only if it is authentic, skillful, and meaningful. Time itself becomes part of an artwork&rsquo;s success, which is why I often use techniques that reveal its passage.

Journey and Challenges
Tell us about your beginnings and your path to this platform. My work has always been grounded in ancient Egyptian civilization. Before this exhibition, I reinterpreted different historical eras: the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms. This project allowed me to focus on the ideas behind those eras, not only the forms.
How do you see the blending of ancient heritage with contemporary art at the Pyramids? It&rsquo;s important, but it must be done thoughtfully. Contemporary work should speak to Egyptian culture, not simply follow global trends. This connection between history, place, and creative interpretation is what gives the exhibition its character.
What challenges did you face preparing the work for an outdoor setting? The piece needed to reflect the scale of the Pyramids and express ancient Egyptian concepts. I usually work in pottery, which is fragile, so I shifted to metal while keeping the essence of pottery. The time frame was tight &mdash; just two months.

The relationship between director Alaa Mahmoud and her mentor, the late Dr Maha El-Shennawy, was far deeper than that of student and teacher. The experience she shared with her mentor during her illness became the starting point for &ldquo;Triangle of Love,&rdquo; a documentary that turns a personal story into one with wider emotional reach.
Documentaries can risk losing viewers who are unfamiliar with their subject, yet Alaa Mahmoud shapes the film into something accessible well beyond the world of the Higher Institute of Cinema. The film traces how cancer affects not only patients but also their families, who absorb the fear, uncertainty, and emotional strain alongside them. Filmed without narration or commentary, Mahmoud observes Maha&rsquo;s daily life with an unfiltered lens, relying on quiet detail rather than explanation. Her selection of moments reveals the often-unspoken realities of illness, the fatigue, the fragile hope around medical results, and the family&rsquo;s mix of helplessness and sustained belief in recovery.
&ldquo;Triangle of Love&rdquo; is Mahmoud&rsquo;s first feature-length film and had its world premiere at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival. NileFM spoke with the director about the decade-long journey that shaped the film.
Inside the Making of &ldquo;Triangle of Love&rdquo; To begin, tell us about &ldquo;Triangle of Love.&rdquo; How did it start, and how did you take us on a journey that lasted years until it reached the form we see today? It all began in Room 35 at the Higher Institute of Cinema. From the first moment I met Maha, I felt a deep connection, even before she wrote me a short summary of her life on a piece of paper. That bond continued for years after her passing, and it will always remain.
<a href="https://ibb.co/MDQNzRS5"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/3yQhx0dY/1.png" alt="1" border="0" /></a> This long journey must have changed you a lot. Can you tell us more about yourself, Alaa the person and Alaa the director, and how your path led you to this moment? My journey began when I was accepted into the directing department at the Higher Institute of Cinema. With every passing year, I felt a deeper artistic and spiritual maturity. I have loved cinema since childhood; it was the one thing I felt connected to at a very young age, long before I even understood what a director was. I still remember the first film I watched alone in the cinema at age 15. That experience made me search for the meaning of the word &ldquo;director,&rdquo; and that is when I knew this was my passion. My studies at the Institute refined that passion, and I learned from great professors like Dr. Mohamed Abdelaziz and Dr. Ali Badrakhan. I am deeply grateful for those years.
 The film took ten years of work. When did you feel that the long journey was worth it? Twice. First, when I learned one day before the world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival that the screening was sold out. Second, during the discussion after the screening, I heard the audience laughing during the film and saw their tears afterward. That is when I felt the topics I had in mind from day one finally became real.

How did her loss affect your vision while working on the final stages of the film? The editing stage was extremely difficult, especially as I completed the final scenes. The pain of losing her will always remain.
 At first, you felt the film was made for one person. When did you realize it was also for you, for Mostafa, and for everyone searching for the meaning of love and loss? When Mostafa kept asking me the same question, the question that opens the film, the answer appeared at the very end. That is when I felt the film belonged to Mostafa as well, and to me. When we speak about ourselves, we speak about others. All the festival screenings confirmed this for me.
 How did it feel seeing the world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival with such a large audience? Cairo International Film Festival is my second home; my first is the Higher Institute of Cinema. As students, we were given time off during the festival to watch five feature films a day, plus the shorts program. We were even questioned about them when we returned to class. I have many memories connected to the festival, so I am proud that my first feature film premiered in Cairo. Also, Dr. Maha El-Shennawy won Best Short Film at Cairo when she was a student, so Mostafa and I held on to that connection.

How did you receive the first reactions? Yes. Many filmmakers and actors, even those I did not personally know, reacted beautifully. They truly connected with the film&rsquo;s emotions and ideas.
 What was the biggest challenge for you as a director, artistically or personally, in your first feature film? Personally, the challenge was the courage required to express our real emotions and truths. It took a lot of strength. Mostafa and I made a pact to be honest. Artistically, editing nine and a half years of footage was extremely difficult. I completed it in three stages.
 The film explores unspoken emotions and quiet love. How did you express that visually without relying on too much dialogue? The film is built on the past and present. I did not interfere with the past; I recorded things exactly as they were, our struggles and our joy. The present is me and Mostafa sitting together, expressing emotions we had hidden for years. The beautiful thing is how the present sometimes contradicts the past and sometimes confirms it.

I did not change, but my spirit evolved, my thinking matured, and I became more aware of myself, my art, life, and people.

Exclusive | After Impressing at CIFF, Alaa Mahmoud Reflects on “Triangle of Love”

For director Abanoub Nabil, Ely Maytsmash (The Unnamed) is not simply a short film; it is an attempt to turn fear into a human narrative. The story follows a dancer and her daughter, Janna, whose life takes an unexpected turn after her mother&rsquo;s world begins to unravel. Through this journey, Janna is forced to confront uncertainty and, in doing so, begins to rediscover herself.
The film will have its world premiere at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, where it will compete in the Short Films section. Screenings are set for 18 November at 3:00 PM at the Opera House&rsquo;s Grand Hall and on 20 November at 3:00 PM at Tahrir&rsquo;s Ewart Hall.
Nile FM went behind the scenes with director Abanoub Nabil to explore how this emotional Egyptian short film was made. The film is competing at the Cairo International Film Festival alongside 23 other titles from around the world.

Your journey as a young director has led you to a film competing at CIFF. What moment shaped you most as an artist? Everyone I meet has influenced my work. I find stories in everyday life in Egypt and in the people around me. Making films lets me connect with their struggles and hopes. When a story reaches the audience, I feel cinema can capture real emotions in a powerful way.
After the film is shown at the festival, what kind of discussion would you like the audience to have? I make films that allow for different interpretations. That is why audience discussions matter. &lsquo;Ely Maytsmash&rsquo; was a personal and creative experience. The moment the audience sees it is what every filmmaker waits for. Positive or critical, every reaction helps shape future ideas.

What was the first idea or image that made you want to make this film? The film is about fear: fear of loss, fear of loneliness, and fear of facing the world. These feelings pushed me to begin &lsquo;Ely Maytsmash&rsquo; and explore the space between love, worry and the unknown.
The mother&ndash;daughter relationship is central to the story. How did you show these emotions without being too direct? Their relationship shaped the whole film. Safi, the mother, has only her daughter Janna, which gives their story strength. I tried to show their love and sacrifices through Janna&rsquo;s point of view and how she reacts to the world around her.

Janna goes on a journey of self-discovery. Which moment reveals who she truly is? Her moment comes when she realises she is facing the world on her own. That is the start of her self-discovery and the journey that follows.
The dancer&rsquo;s character has many layers. Which one did you focus on most? I wanted to move past stereotypes and show her as a full person: a mother balancing love, vulnerability, and strength. The film also shows how she manages society&rsquo;s expectations and the pressures of her job.
What was the biggest challenge you faced while making the film? Casting was the first challenge. We needed a young girl who could carry the film and adapt to demanding scenes. Finding a mother who resembled her made it even harder and required many auditions. The second challenge was choosing locations, especially complex spaces like nightclubs, and working out how to film them realistically.
From a directing point of view, what shaped the film&rsquo;s spirit the most? Filming entirely in Alexandria gave the project its character. I have a personal connection to the city, and many crew members, including Islam Kamal and Mina Nabil, are Alexandrian artists. The locations brought authenticity, and completing post-production there gave the film a strong local identity and a cohesive visual style.

This was a personal project for you. Can you explain why? Thinking back to childhood fears, like worrying about a friend&rsquo;s mother who was unwell, I realised I was exploring the same emotions again. Sharing the idea with my friend and producer Mark Lotfy was the first step in turning fear into a story. Support from writer-producer Ahmed Amer and the Red Star team, Baho Bakhsh and Safi Eldin Mahmoud, helped shape the film from early development to shooting.
After &lsquo;Ely Maytsmash,&rsquo; what are you working on next? I am developing two new projects inspired by real Egyptian characters I have met. After the festival, I will begin preparing the final script for my next film.

1. You began your journey in Alexandria, mixing tracks on your laptop. How does it feel to see how far you have come today? I was born in Alexandria and moved to Hurghada. I started mixing using Virtual DJ software. Looking back now, it feels like a major milestone in my journey. 2. What was it about DJing that first drew you in, and why did you choose this path over other careers? I got inspired by a well-known UK DJ called James Hype. Before that, I was invited to DJ in a lounge in Marsa Alam, and that&rsquo;s when I realized this was my path. I also love music and wanted to do what I love.

What inspired you to blend heritage and electronic music? It is something cool and unique, especially with the rise of AI in music. I like combining heritage and modern sounds to create something new. 5. Tracks like Electric Dreams and Velarix define your melodic techno sound. How do you approach creating music that connects both emotionally and rhythmically? I focus on emotion first and then build the rhythm and sound around it. I want people to move and connect emotionally at the same time. 6. Every artist faces challenges. What have been some of the biggest obstacles, and how did you overcome them? Consistency is the key. You must do it a lot and never give up. That is what I did and continue to do.

Egypt&rsquo;s electronic music scene is growing rapidly. How do you see your role in shaping it, and what do you hope to achieve locally and internationally? I am seeking to achieve a hit. I am not rushing it yet, but I promise it will come. Once it does, it will be a game-changer locally and internationally. 9. Every DJ has that one track that always gets the crowd moving. What is yours? Skadi by Marko Meko and Avity was released on YALLA EDM Records. It always gets the crowd moving. 10. If you could collaborate with any Egyptian artist, past or present, who would it be and why? Amir Eid. He is in a different genre, and it would be exciting to create something new together. 11. What is next for you? Any upcoming releases, projects, or shows that fans should watch out for? I am planning a project in collaboration with Abdalla Magdy, founder of JB Production. An exclusive remix in collaboration with Ramstring. I am also planning a European tour in December 2025.

Billie Eilish is set to release her first 3D concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), on 20 March 2026. The production captures performances from her recent world tour and includes behind-the-scenes material to offer an immersive look at the singer&rsquo;s latest live show.

Billie Eilish and James Cameron Team Up for 3D Concert Experience — All We Know So Far

In a major artistic reveal, the &ldquo;Echoes of the Pyramids&rdquo; Festival announced that legendary composer Omar Khairat will take the stage on Friday, November 28, in a special concert titled &ldquo;Omar Khairat &amp; Friends.&rdquo; The performance is the headline surprise of the festival&rsquo;s first edition, held under the theme &ldquo;Cradle of Civilizations&hellip; A Meeting Point of Arts and Cultures.&rdquo;
Khairat will present a carefully curated selection of his most iconic works alongside the Omar Khairat Orchestra and the Cairo Celebration Choir, conducted by Maestro Nayer Nagui. The first half of the evening will feature celebrated young musicians Ragad El-Din, Amira Abou Zahra, and Mariam Abou Zahra, following their acclaimed appearance at the Grand Egyptian Museum&rsquo;s opening earlier this month.
The concert also welcomes internationally renowned Egyptian opera and classical artists Gala El Hadidi, Ashraf Sewailam, and Sandy Mohamed, performing with the festival&rsquo;s orchestra under the baton of Maestro Kristjan J&auml;rvi.
Festival Program Highlights
The inaugural edition of &ldquo;Echoes of the Pyramids&rdquo; runs from November 24 to 30 at the Pyramids Panorama Stage, with two additional performances on December 12 and 13 at the Grand Theater of the Opera House in the New Administrative Capital, featuring the Boris Eifman Ballet (St. Petersburg, Russia) in the production &ldquo;My Fair Lady.&rdquo;
The festival opens on Monday, November 24, with a recital by world-renowned pianist Lang Lang. The following day, Tuesday, November 25, brings a night of immortal melodies featuring works by Egyptian music icons Ammar El Sherei and contemporary composer Hesham Nazih, whose music shone at the Grand Egyptian Museum&rsquo;s opening. These works will be performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hany Farahat and Ben Palmer, with guest appearances by singer Riham Abdel Hakim and soprano Amira Selim, performing Nazih&rsquo;s celebrated piece &ldquo;Hymn of Isis.&rdquo;
On Wednesday, November 26, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra returns with a concert of classic Hollywood film scores, conducted by Ben Palmer. Guest star Carla Chamoun will perform songs from The Prince of Egypt and Gladiator, which she originally recorded for these films.
The festival&rsquo;s fifth night, Thursday, 27 November, is dedicated to the Arab world, featuring stars Abeer Nehme and Fayrouz &ldquo;Faia&rdquo; Younan in a musical journey blending heritage and modernity. They will be accompanied by the CineSymphony Orchestra under Maestro Ahmed Aoude, with the participation of the festival's choir led by Adham Ezzat, joined by the German University in Cairo Choir led by Engy Lotfy.
The festival concludes on Sunday, November 30, with a spectacular performance by vocal phenomenon Dimash Qudaibergen, whose six-octave range has stunned audiences worldwide.

Tamer Hagras is widely known as the action star with a commanding presence. But spend time with him, and another side emerges: reflective, calm, and deeply grounded. In this interview on The Evening Show with Hisham Moussa and Nancy Hany on NileFM, the Egyptian actor discusses his early days in modelling, his move into acting, and the balance he maintains between adrenaline and stillness.
Hagras first gained attention in advertising and in popular regional music videos before appearing in films including The Danish Experience, The Volcano of Anger, and Toxic Marriage. He also starred opposite Youssra in the Ramadan series Sharbat Luz, establishing himself as one of Egypt&rsquo;s familiar on-screen figures.
Do you see yourself as fearless, as many people assume from your roles? When I was younger, I used to refuse a lot of scripts straight away. Now I believe every role can come to life if you bring something to it moment; an idea, or a small detail. Call it fearlessness if you want; I call it faith in the work.
How do you view fame and social media today? Fame sits very close to vanity. If someone is not content without fame, then fame only magnifies insecurities. It can be harmful. I try to use social media only when it brings something positive. If one message stays with one person, that&rsquo;s enough.
Your early career included modelling and music videos. How did that begin? I can&rsquo;t remember if the music video came first, but I think it was Haifa Wehbe&rsquo;s song, which became a big hit. Mohamed Sami shot it; it was his first job. We filmed in Syria, in a coliseum, with a Roman feel. I&rsquo;ve always loved historical themes, so it suited me.

How were you cast in that video? Haifa and Mohamed Sami wanted me. They needed someone known, someone with the right look; Roman features. By then I was already in films, so it felt like a guest appearance.
What led to your move from modelling to acting? I was modelling for a fashion house owned by a Palestinian friend. He wanted to make a film about Palestine, similar in spirit to The Devil&rsquo;s Own. That became The Volcano of Anger. Adel Emam saw it and later asked me to join The Danish Experience. Both were released around the same time, and that changed everything.
Which role made you feel you had become an actor? The Volcano of Anger. We filmed in Alexandria, in refugee camps in Beirut, and in South Lebanon. Holding an AK-47 and wearing the Palestinian scarf, it felt meaningful. But the moment I felt like a movie star was seeing the billboard. I drove early in the morning just to look at it.
Is there a character you still hope to play? Historical roles: Islamic and Egyptian Pharaonic. Though in a way, I already felt like Caesar in that music video.
What&rsquo;s the biggest misconception about you? That I&rsquo;m conceited. And that&rsquo;s absolutely true. I&rsquo;m joking. Humility and kindness matter most.

You live a very active, adrenaline-filled lifestyle. Does that shape your roles? Directors expect me to do action, and I want to step away from that. Yes, I love adrenaline, biking, and fitness, but that doesn&rsquo;t mean I only want action roles. I do these things for freedom and for living in the moment.
There also seems to be a quieter side to you. How do you balance both? I get the adrenaline out early in the day. The rest must be calm meditation, grounding, and serenity. Both sides matter.
What does a typical day look like? I&rsquo;m up at 5 AM for meditation, prayers, and the gym. Then, meetings with directors, producers, and writers, followed by work on my private business. I love pizza and burgers, but I balance things. By 9 pm, I&rsquo;m done. Midnight is far too late for me.
How has the industry changed since you started? There are more actors and more productions now. When I started, fame carried more weight. No social media. With respect to bloggers, we didn&rsquo;t see influencers on red carpets being interviewed as if they had decades of work. Now, anyone can become famous overnight. It&rsquo;s chaotic, but I&rsquo;m fine with chaos.
What&rsquo;s the most &ldquo;Hagras&rdquo; thing you did this year? My hike at the Seven Sisters in the UK. My youngest daughter asked for it for her birthday. White cliffs, green hills, dogs, sheep, horses &mdash; and a picnic on top. It was magical.
Describe yourself in three words, but not the obvious ones. Serene. Content. A believer in the goodness of people, no matter what you&rsquo;ve heard about them. I try to find that goodness and give it back, especially to those who need it most.

This Thursday night, the rhythm travels from Morocco to Egypt as Kross Well takes over the decks on Nile FM&rsquo;s DJ of the Week at 10:00 PM.
Known for his vibrant mixes and creative flair, the Moroccan DJ, producer, and digital content creator is set to light up the airwaves with an exclusive set that bridges cultures through sound. Ahead of his performance, Nile FM caught up with Kross Well to learn more about his journey, his Moroccan roots, and how he&rsquo;s turned his passion for music into a global rhythm.
 Let&rsquo;s begin with your story; who is Kross Well, and how did your journey into music and DJing first take shape?
My real name is Abdelilah Lamssane, and I was born in a small village called Ouled Amara, near the city of Safi in Morocco. To be honest, I wasn&rsquo;t attached to music during my childhood. It all began in high school when I met a friend who was very into rap music. That&rsquo;s when I started exploring different sounds, and soon after, I found myself drawn to electronic dance music.
A funny story: in 2008, I was in a cybercaf&eacute; looking for software to cut music and make ringtones for my phone. That&rsquo;s when I discovered Virtual DJ, and I started experimenting and fell in love with DJing.
In 2014, I reached the Top 5 of the Philips M1X DJ Competition in the MENA region, and in 2015, I made it to the semi-finals of the Master DJ Competition by Hit Radio. These experiences really helped me enter Morocco&rsquo;s nightlife scene.
I&rsquo;ve worked as both a guest and resident DJ in many Moroccan cities; Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, Tangier, and hosted a weekly radio show called Kross Well RadioShow for more than five years.
I started producing music in 2015 with my first track, Colors of Life. But I&rsquo;ve always felt more drawn to making mashups and edits than releasing original tracks.&nbsp;
Your real name is Abdelilah Lamssane, but you perform under the name &ldquo;Kross Well.&rdquo; What&rsquo;s the story behind that stage name?
It actually came from DJ equipment. In 2014, when I started my radio show, I wanted a unique DJ name. I took the word &ldquo;Cross&rdquo; from &ldquo;crossfader&rdquo; and added &ldquo;Well,&rdquo; meaning a DJ who transitions smoothly between tracks. To make it distinctive, I changed the &ldquo;C&rdquo; to a &ldquo;K.&rdquo;
You&rsquo;re not only a DJ but also a producer and digital content creator. How do you balance these creative roles, and how do they influence one another?
At the moment, I&rsquo;m more focused on digital content creation since I&rsquo;m also running another project, my grocery store. When it comes to DJing, I now focus on special performances, like this exclusive DJ set for Nile FM, or live shows at select venues.
DJing and producing have definitely helped me as a content creator. I learned photography and video editing through filming my sets and performances, which made it easier when I shifted toward social media. And as a producer, I often create original music for my videos to make them more distinctive.
I also had experience as a live radio host in 2018 at a web radio station in Safi, which taught me a lot about communication and presentation.
Coming from Morocco, how would you describe the country&rsquo;s music and DJ scene? Has it shaped your sound or artistic identity?
At first, I was more influenced by the international scene. But over time, I realised I needed to bring my own cultural touch to reflect Moroccan identity in the way I select and present music.
Morocco is incredibly rich in culture. Our audiences are open to many genres, which you can see from the wide variety of music festivals and events held across the country.
Tell us about your featured DJ set. How did you select the tracks for this mix?
Whenever I record a special DJ set, I start by choosing a genre. Then I look at the charts for that style to see what&rsquo;s trending. I take about half of my selection from current hits and fill the rest with my personal favourites plus some timeless classics, because I love how classics bring people together.&nbsp;
Your tracklist includes artists like Tiger Stripes, Dennis Ferrer, and TSHA. What draws you to that particular sound and style?
I enjoy a wide range of genres, from House and Deep House to Trance, Afro, Organic, Progressive, and Electro. But when it&rsquo;s time to party, House music is always my first choice.
Those artists are among my favourites. Honestly, I couldn&rsquo;t play a House set without Dennis Ferrer&rsquo;s classic Hey Hey , it&rsquo;s one of those timeless tracks that always connect with the crowd.&nbsp;
When it comes to mixing, do you plan your sets in advance or prefer to read the crowd and improvise?
It&rsquo;s a combination of both. I prepare a list of favourite and trending tracks, but I always stay ready to adjust based on the audience&rsquo;s mood. Sometimes, just the way you mix two songs can completely change the crowd&rsquo;s energy.

Bob Sinclar and David Guetta inspired me as DJs, while Pete Tong and Tiesto influenced me through their radio shows.
Here in Morocco, DJ BYAZED from Hit Radio was a big inspiration when I started out in 2008 &mdash; he influenced many young Moroccan DJs of that era.&nbsp;
What&rsquo;s one unforgettable moment from your time performing live?
That would be in 2016, when I was a resident DJ in a lounge bar in Casablanca. An elderly man approached the booth and told me, &ldquo;Son, you should be proud. Few people get to do a job that makes others happy and helps them enjoy life.&rdquo;
I&rsquo;ll never forget that moment, especially because it came from someone of a completely different generation.

I play what I truly enjoy, not just what&rsquo;s trending. When you love the music you&rsquo;re playing, the crowd feels that energy too, and it creates a genuine connection.

I really like Nile FM&rsquo;s music selection, the playlist suits my taste perfectly. It&rsquo;s a mix of hot, current tracks and unforgettable classics.&nbsp;
How does it feel to have your mix broadcast on Nile FM, reaching millions of listeners across Egypt?
It feels incredible. Having my set air on an Egyptian station is very special to me. In Morocco, we have a deep connection with Egyptian culture I grew up watching Egyptian films and dramas. So in a way, I already feel connected to Egypt.&nbsp;

If I perform live in Egypt for the first time, my goal will be simple: to make people dance. I want to share my music culture through exclusive edits and good vibes, so everyone leaves happy and full of great memories.
Looking ahead, what are your goals as a DJ and producer? Are there any upcoming projects or releases fans should watch out for?
For now, I&rsquo;m focused on growing my audience as a digital content creator. But I&rsquo;ll soon return to DJing not just as a performer but also as a show producer. I have a special idea I&rsquo;m working on.
I&rsquo;m also launching a podcast soon, aimed at young people, a space where they can share their work, their ambitions, and how they want to shape their future.

Why the Moon Turns Red
A lunar eclipse happens when the sun, Earth, and moon align, and Earth blocks direct sunlight from reaching the moon. Instead, the moon reflects sunlight filtered through Earth&rsquo;s atmosphere. Because the atmosphere scatters blue light and lets red light pass through, the moon takes on a dramatic reddish glow; the same effect that makes sunrises and sunsets look red. Dust or clouds can make the color appear even deeper.
Where to Watch
The eclipse will be visible across Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and parts of South America. Viewers in North America, however, will only catch partial phases of the event.

Don’t Miss Tonight’s Total Lunar Eclipse Over Egypt

In a rare astronomical phenomenon, Earth is completing its rotation today, Tuesday, 22nd July, in less than 24 hours&mdash;making it the shortest day ever recorded in human history. The planet will spin 1.34 milliseconds faster than the standard 86,400 seconds, surpassing the previous record set just two weeks ago on 9th July.
Although the difference is imperceptible to most, scientists say it reflects a puzzling trend in Earth&rsquo;s rotational behaviour. If this acceleration continues, global timekeepers may need to subtract a second from atomic clocks by 2029&mdash;a historic adjustment known as a &ldquo;negative leap second&rdquo; that has never been implemented before.&nbsp;
Experts remain uncertain about the root cause of the acceleration. Theories range from shifts in the Earth's molten core and melting glaciers to atmospheric changes and a weakening magnetic field. For centuries, the Earth has been gradually slowing due to the moon&rsquo;s tidal pull. But new data from NASA suggest we may have reached a phase of orbital equilibrium, unexpectedly speeding up the planet&rsquo;s rotation.
Geologists and astrophysicists are closely monitoring the development, as it could affect everything from satellite navigation to global timekeeping systems in the near future.
